31:1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell slain on Mount Gilboa. 31:2 Then the Philistines followed hard after Saul and his sons. And the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul's sons. 31:3 The battle became fierce against Saul. The archers hit him, and he was severely wounded by the archers. 31:4 Then Saul said to his armorbearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through and abuse me." But his armorbearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword and fell on it. 31:5 And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword, and died with him. 31:6 So Saul, his three sons, his armorbearer, and all his men died together that same day. 31:7 And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them. 31:8 So it happened the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 31:9 And they cut off his head and stripped off his armor, and sent word throughout the land of the Philistines, to proclaim it in the temple of their idols and among the people. 31:10 Then they put his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan. 31:11 Now when the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, 31:12 all the valiant men arose and traveled all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth Shan; and they came to Jabesh and burned them there. 31:13 Then they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
94:1 主よ、報復の神として／報復の神として顕現し 94:2 全地の裁き手として立ち上がり／誇る者を罰してください。 94:3 主よ、逆らう者はいつまで／逆らう者はいつまで、勝ち誇るのでしょうか。 94:4 彼らは驕った言葉を吐き続け／悪を行う者は皆、傲慢に語ります。 94:5 主よ、彼らはあなたの民を砕き／あなたの嗣業を苦しめています。 94:6 やもめや寄留の民を殺し／みなしごを虐殺します。 94:7 そして、彼らは言います／「主は見ていない。ヤコブの神は気づくことがない」と。 94:8 民の愚かな者よ、気づくがよい。無知な者よ、いつになったら目覚めるのか。 94:9 耳を植えた方に聞こえないとでもいうのか。目を造った方に見えないとでもいうのか。 94:10 人間に知識を与え、国々を諭す方に／論じることができないとでもいうのか。 94:11 主は知っておられる、人間の計らいを／それがいかに空しいかを。 94:12 いかに幸いなことでしょう／主よ、あなたに諭され／あなたの律法を教えていただく人は。 94:13 その人は苦難の襲うときにも静かに待ちます。神に逆らう者には、滅びの穴が掘られています。 94:14 主は御自分の民を決しておろそかになさらず／御自分の嗣業を見捨てることはなさいません。 94:15 正しい裁きは再び確立し／心のまっすぐな人は皆、それに従うでしょう。 94:16 災いをもたらす者に対して／わたしのために立ち向かい／悪を行う者に対して／わたしに代わって立つ人があるでしょうか。 94:17 主がわたしの助けとなってくださらなければ／わたしの魂は沈黙の中に伏していたでしょう。 94:18 「足がよろめく」とわたしが言ったとき／主よ、あなたの慈しみが支えてくれました。 94:19 わたしの胸が思い煩いに占められたとき／あなたの慰めが／わたしの魂の楽しみとなりました。 94:20 破滅をもたらすのみの王座／掟を悪用して労苦を作り出すような者が／あなたの味方となりえましょうか。 94:21 彼らは一団となって神に従う人の命をねらい／神に逆らって潔白な人の血を流そうとします。 94:22 主は必ずわたしのために砦の塔となり／わたしの神は避けどころとなり／岩となってくださいます。 94:23 彼らの悪に報い／苦難をもたらす彼らを滅ぼし尽くしてください。わたしたちの神、主よ／彼らを滅ぼし尽くしてください。
94:1 O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs-O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth! 94:2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth;Render punishment to the proud. 94:3 Lord, how long will the wicked,How long will the wicked triumph? 94:4 They utter speech, and speak insolent things;All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves. 94:5 They break in pieces Your people, O Lord,And afflict Your heritage. 94:6 They slay the widow and the stranger,And murder the fatherless. 94:7 Yet they say, "The Lord does not see,Nor does the God of Jacob understand." 94:8 Understand, you senseless among the people;And you fools, when will you be wise? 94:9 He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?He who formed the eye, shall He not see? 94:10 He who instructs the nations, shall He not correct,He who teaches man knowledge? 94:11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man,That they are futile. 94:12 Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord,And teach out of Your law, 94:13 That You may give him rest from the days of adversity,Until the pit is dug for the wicked. 94:14 For the Lord will not cast off His people,Nor will He forsake His inheritance. 94:15 But judgment will return to righteousness,And all the upright in heart will follow it. 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? 94:17 Unless the Lord had been my help,My soul would soon have settled in silence. 94:18 If I say, "My foot slips,"Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. 94:19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me,Your comforts delight my soul. 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,Have fellowship with You? 94:21 They gather together against the life of the righteous,And condemn innocent blood. 94:22 But the Lord has been my defense,And my God the rock of my refuge. 94:23 He has brought on them their own iniquity,And shall cut them off in their own wickedness;The Lord our God shall cut them off.
