21:1 ダビデの世に、三年続いて飢饉が襲った。ダビデは主に託宣を求めた。主は言われた。「ギブオン人を殺害し、血を流したサウルとその家に責任がある。」 21:2 王はギブオン人を招いて言った。――ギブオン人はアモリ人の生き残りで、イスラエルの人々に属する者ではないが、イスラエルの人々は彼らと誓約を交わしていた。ところがサウルは、イスラエルとユダの人々への熱情の余り、ギブオン人を討とうとしたことがあった。 21:3 ダビデはギブオン人に言った。「あなたたちに何をしたらよいのだろう。どのように償えば主の嗣業を祝福してもらえるだろうか。」 21:4 ギブオン人はダビデに答えた。「サウルとその家のことで問題なのは金銀ではありません。イスラエルの人々をだれかれなく殺すというのでもありません。」ダビデは言った。「言ってくれれば何でもそのとおりにしよう。」 21:5 彼らは王に答えた。「わたしたちを滅ぼし尽くし、わたしたちがイスラエルの領土のどこにも定着できないように滅亡を謀った男、 21:6 あの男の子孫の中から七人をわたしたちに渡してください。わたしたちは主がお選びになった者サウルの町ギブアで、主の御前に彼らをさらし者にします。」王は、「引き渡そう」と言った。 21:7 しかし、王はサウルの子ヨナタンの息子メフィボシェトを惜しんだ。ダビデとサウルの子ヨナタンとの間には主をさして立てた誓いがあったからである。 21:8 王はアヤの娘リツパとサウルの間に生まれた二人の息子、アルモニとメフィボシェトと、サウルの娘ミカルとメホラ人バルジライの子アドリエルとの間に生まれた五人の息子を捕らえ、 21:9 ギブオン人の手に渡した。ギブオンの人々は彼らを山で主の御前にさらした。七人は一度に処刑された。彼らが殺されたのは刈り入れの初め、大麦の収穫が始まるころであった。 21:10 アヤの娘リツパは粗布を取って岩の上に広げた。収穫の初めのころから、死者たちに雨が天から降り注ぐころまで、リツパは昼は空の鳥が死者の上にとまることを、夜は野の獣が襲うことを防いだ。 21:11 サウルの側女、アヤの子リツパのこの行いは王に報告された。 21:12 ダビデはギレアドのヤベシュの人々のところへ行って、サウルの骨とその子ヨナタンの骨を受け取った。その遺骨はギレアドのヤベシュの人々がベト・シャンの広場から奪い取って来たもので、ペリシテ人がギルボアでサウルを討った日に、そこにさらしたものであった。 21:13 ダビデはそこからサウルの骨とその子ヨナタンの骨を運び、人々は今回さらされた者たちの骨を集め、 21:14 サウルとその子ヨナタンの骨と共にベニヤミンの地ツェラにあるサウルの父キシュの墓に葬った。人々は王の命令をすべて果たした。この後、神はこの国の祈りにこたえられた。
21:15 ペリシテ人は再びイスラエルと戦った。ダビデは家臣を率いて出陣し、ペリシテと戦ったが、ダビデは疲れていた。 21:16 ラファの子孫の一人イシュビ・ベノブは、三百シェケルの重さの青銅の槍を持ち、新しい帯を付けて、ダビデを討つ、と言った。 21:17 しかし、ツェルヤの子アビシャイは、ダビデを助けてこのペリシテ人を打ち殺した。それ以来、ダビデの家来たちはダビデに誓わせた。「以後、我々と共に戦いに出てはなりません。イスラエルの灯を消さぬよう心掛けてください。」 21:18 その後、ゴブの地で、再びペリシテ人との戦いがあった。このときは、フシャ人シベカイがラファの子孫の一人サフを打ち殺した。 21:19 ゴブで、またペリシテ人との戦いがあったとき、ベツレヘム出身のヤアレ・オルギムの子エルハナンが、ガト人ゴリアトを打ち殺した。ゴリアトの槍の柄は機織りの巻き棒ほどもあった。 21:20 別の戦いがガトでもあった。ラファの子孫で、手足の指が六本ずつ、合わせて二十四本ある巨人が出て来て、 21:21 イスラエルを辱めたが、ダビデの兄弟シムアの子ヨナタンが彼を討ち取った。 21:22 これら四人はガトにいたラファの子孫で、ダビデとその家臣の手によって倒された。
21:1 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, "It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites." 21:2 So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; the children of Israel had sworn protection to them, but Saul had sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah. 21:3 Therefore David said to the Gibeonites, "What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of the Lord?" 21:4 And the Gibeonites said to him, "We will have no silver or gold from Saul or from his house, nor shall you kill any man in Israel for us." So he said, "Whatever you say, I will do for you." 21:5 Then they answered the king, "As for the man who consumed us and plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the territories of Israel, 21:6 "let seven men of his descendants be delivered to us, and we will hang them before the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, whom the Lord chose." And the king said, "I will give them." 21:7 But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the Lord's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. 21:8 So the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite; 21:9 and he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the hill before the Lord. So they fell, all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest. 21:10 Now Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until the late rains poured on them from heaven. And she did not allow the birds of the air to rest on them by day nor the beasts of the field by night. 21:11 And David was told what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done. 21:12 Then David went and took the bones of Saul, and the bones of Jonathan his son, from the men of Jabesh Gilead who had stolen them from the street of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them up, after the Philistines had struck down Saul in Gilboa. 21:13 So he brought up the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from there; and they gathered the bones of those who had been hanged. 21:14 They buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the tomb of Kish his father. So they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God heeded the prayer for the land. 21:15 When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint. 21:16 Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose bronze spear was three hundred shekels, who was bearing a new sword, thought he could kill David. 21:17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, "You shall go out no more with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel." 21:18 Now it happened afterward that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the sons of the giant. 21:19 Again there was war at Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. 21:20 Yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was born to the giant. 21:21 So when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him. 21:22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
3:16 神は、その独り子をお与えになったほどに、世を愛された。独り子を信じる者が一人も滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである。 3:17 神が御子を世に遣わされたのは、世を裁くためではなく、御子によって世が救われるためである。 3:18 御子を信じる者は裁かれない。信じない者は既に裁かれている。神の独り子の名を信じていないからである。 3:19 光が世に来たのに、人々はその行いが悪いので、光よりも闇の方を好んだ。それが、もう裁きになっている。 3:20 悪を行う者は皆、光を憎み、その行いが明るみに出されるのを恐れて、光の方に来ないからである。 3:21 しかし、真理を行う者は光の方に来る。その行いが神に導かれてなされたということが、明らかになるために。」
3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 3:17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 3:20 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 3:21 "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
