19:1 ダビデは身を震わせ、城門の上の部屋に上って泣いた。彼は上りながらこう言った。「わたしの息子アブサロムよ、わたしの息子よ。わたしの息子アブサロムよ、わたしがお前に代わって死ねばよかった。アブサロム、わたしの息子よ、わたしの息子よ。」
19:2 王がアブサロムを悼んで泣いているとの知らせがヨアブに届いた。 19:3 その日兵士たちは、王が息子を思って悲しんでいることを知った。すべての兵士にとって、その日の勝利は喪に変わった。 19:4 その日兵士たちは、戦場を脱走して来たことを恥じる兵士が忍び込むようにして、こっそりと町に入った。 19:5 王は顔を覆い、大声で叫んでいた。「わたしの息子アブサロム、アブサロム。わたしの息子、わたしの息子よ。」 19:6 ヨアブは屋内の王のもとに行き、言った。「王は今日、王のお命、王子、王女たちの命、王妃、側女たちの命を救ったあなたの家臣全員の顔を恥にさらされました。 19:7 あなたを憎む者を愛し、あなたを愛する者を憎まれるのですか。わたしは今日、将軍も兵士もあなたにとっては無に等しいと知らされました。この日、アブサロムが生きていて、我々全員が死んでいたら、あなたの目に正しいと映ったのでしょう。 19:8 とにかく立って外に出、家臣の心に語りかけてください。主に誓って言いますが、出て来られなければ、今夜あなたと共に過ごす者は一人もいないでしょう。それはあなたにとって、若いときから今に至るまでに受けたどのような災いにもまして、大きな災いとなるでしょう。」 19:9 王は立ち上がり、城門の席に着いた。兵士は皆、王が城門の席に着いたと聞いて、王の前に集まった。
19:9 イスラエル軍はそれぞれ自分の天幕に逃げ帰った。 19:10 イスラエル諸部族の間に議論が起こった。「ダビデ王は敵の手から我々を救い出し、ペリシテの手からも助け出してくださった。だが今は、アブサロムのために国外に逃げておられる。 19:11 我々が油を注いで王としたアブサロムは戦いで死んでしまった。それなのに、なぜあなたたちは黙っているばかりで、王を連れ戻そうとしないのか。」 19:12 イスラエルのすべての人々の声はダビデ王の家にまで届いた。王は、祭司ツァドクとアビアタルのもとに人を遣わしてこう言った。「ユダの長老たちにこう言ってくれ。あなたたちは王を王宮に連れ戻すのに遅れをとるのか。 19:13 あなたたちはわたしの兄弟、わたしの骨肉ではないか。王を連れ戻すのに遅れをとるのか。 19:14 アマサに対してはこう言ってくれ。お前はわたしの骨肉ではないか。ヨアブに代えてこれから先ずっと、お前をわが軍の司令官に任じないなら、神が幾重にもわたしを罰してくださるように。」 19:15 ダビデはユダのすべての人々の心を動かして一人の人の心のようにした。ユダの人々は王に使者を遣わし、「家臣全員と共に帰還してください」と言った。
19:16 王は帰途につき、ヨルダン川まで来た。ユダの人々は王を迎え、ヨルダン川を渡るのを助けようとして、ギルガルまで来ていた。 19:17 バフリム出身のあのベニヤミン人、ゲラの子シムイもユダの人々と共にダビデ王を迎えようと急いで下って来た。 19:18 シムイはベニヤミン族の千人を率いていた。サウル家の従者であったツィバは、十五人の息子と二十人の召し使いを率い、ヨルダン川を渡って、王の前に出た。 19:19 彼が渡し場を渡ったのは、王の目にかなうよう、渡るときに王家の人々を助けて川を渡らせるためであった。ゲラの子シムイは、王がヨルダン川を渡ろうとするとき、王の前にひれ伏し、 19:20 王に言った。「どうか、主君がわたしを有罪とお考えにならず、主君、王がエルサレムを出られた日にこの僕の犯した悪をお忘れください。心にお留めになりませんように。 19:21 わたしは自分の犯した罪をよく存じています。ですから、本日ヨセフの家のだれよりも早く主君、王をお迎えしようと下って参りました。」 19:22 ツェルヤの子アビシャイが答えた。「シムイが死なずに済むものでしょうか。主が油を注がれた方をののしったのです。」 19:23 だがダビデは言った。「ツェルヤの息子たちよ、ほうっておいてくれ。お前たちは今日わたしに敵対するつもりか。今日、イスラエル人が死刑にされてよいものだろうか。今日わたしがイスラエルの王であることを、わたし自身が知らないと思うのか。」 19:24 それからシムイに向かって、「お前を死刑にすることはない」と誓った。 19:25 サウルの孫メフィボシェトも王を迎えに下って来た。彼は、王が去った日から無事にエルサレムに帰還する日まで、足も洗わず、ひげもそらず、衣服も洗わなかった。 19:26 彼が王を迎えに出ると、王は、「メフィボシェトよ、なぜお前はわたしに従って来なかったのか」と尋ねた。 19:27 彼は言った。「主君、王よ、僕に欺かれたのです。わたしは足が不自由ですから、ろばに鞍を置き、それに乗って王様に従って行こうと考えておりました。 19:28 ところがあの僕が主君、王にわたしのことを中傷したのです。しかし、主君、王は神の御使いのような方です。王の目に良いと映ることをなさってください。 19:29 父の家の者は皆、主君、王にとって死に値する者ばかりですのに、この僕を王の食卓に並ばせてくださったのです。この上、どのような権利があって王に助けを求めることができましょうか。」 19:30 王は言った。「もう自分のことを話す必要はない。わたしは命じる。お前とツィバで地所を分け合いなさい。」 19:31 メフィボシェトは王に言った。「主君、王が無事に王宮にお帰りになったのですから、すべてツィバのものとなってもかまいません。」
19:32 ギレアド人バルジライはヨルダン川で王を見送るためにロゲリムから下り、王と共にヨルダン川まで来ていた。 19:33 バルジライは高齢で八十歳になっていた。彼は大層裕福で、マハナイム滞在中の王の生活を支えていた。 19:34 王はバルジライに言った。「わたしと共に来てくれないか。エルサレムのわたしのもとであなたの面倒を見よう。」 19:35 バルジライは王に答えた。「王のお供をしてエルサレムに上りましても、わたしはあと何年生きられましょう。 19:36 わたしはもう八十歳になります。善悪の区別も知りません。この僕は何を食べ何を飲んでも味がなく、男女の歌い手の声も聞こえないのです。どうしてこの上主君、王の重荷になれましょう。 19:37 わたしにはお供をしてヨルダン川を渡ることさえほとんどできません。王はそれほどにお報いくださることはございません。 19:38 どうか僕が帰って行くのをお許しください。父や母の墓のあるわたしの町で死にたいのです。ここにあなたの僕キムハムがおります。これに主君、王のお供をさせますから、どうかあなたの目に良いと映るままにお使いください。」 19:39 王は言った。「キムハムにわたしと共に来てもらおう。キムハムには、お前の目に良いと映るとおりにしよう。お前にはお前の選ぶとおりにしよう。」 19:40 兵士全体がヨルダン川を渡り、王も渡った。王はバルジライに口づけして彼を祝福した。バルジライは自分の町に帰って行った。
19:41 王はギルガルへ進んだ。キムハムも共に行き、ユダの全兵士もイスラエルの兵士の半分も王と共に進んだ。 19:42 イスラエルの人々は皆、王のもとに来て、王に言った。「なぜ我々の兄弟のユダの人々があなたを奪い取り、王と御家族が直属の兵と共にヨルダン川を渡るのを助けたのですか。」 19:43 ユダの人々はイスラエルの人々に答えた。「王はわたしたちの近親だからだ。なぜこの事で腹を立てるのだ。我々が王の食物を食べ、贈り物をもらっているとでも言うのか。」 19:44 イスラエルの人々はユダの人々に言い返した。「王のことに関して、わたしたちには十の持ち分がある。ダビデ王に対してもお前たちより多くの分がある。なぜわたしたちをないがしろにするのだ。わたしたちの王を呼び戻そうと言ったのはわたしたちが先ではないか。」しかし、ユダの人々の言葉はイスラエルの人々の言葉よりも激しかった。
19:1 And Joab was told, "Behold, the king is weeping and mourning for Absalom." 19:2 So the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the people. For the people heard it said that day, "The king is grieved for his son." 19:3 And the people stole back into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle. 19:4 But the king covered his face, and the king cried out with a loud voice, "O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!" 19:5 Then Joab came into the house to the king, and said, "Today you have disgraced all your servants who today have saved your life, the lives of your sons and daughters, the lives of your wives and the lives of your concubines, 19:6 "in that you love your enemies and hate your friends. For you have declared today that you regard neither princes nor servants; for today I perceive that if Absalom had lived and all of us had died today, then it would have pleased you well. 19:7 "Now therefore, arise, go out and speak comfort to your servants. For I swear by the Lord, if you do not go out, not one will stay with you this night. And that will be worse for you than all the evil that has befallen you from your youth until now." 19:8 Then the king arose and sat in the gate. And they told all the people, saying, "There is the king, sitting in the gate." So all the people came before the king. For everyone of Israel had fled to his tent. 19:9 Now all the people were in a dispute throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "The king saved us from the hand of our enemies, he delivered us from the hand of the Philistines, and now he has fled from the land because of Absalom. 19:10 "But Absalom, whom we anointed over us, has died in battle. Now therefore, why do you say nothing about bringing back the king?" 19:11 So King David sent to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, saying, "Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, 'Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, since the words of all Israel have come to the king, to his very house? 19:12 'You are my brethren, you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?' 19:13 "And say to Amasa, 'Are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you are not commander of the army before me continually in place of Joab.' " 19:14 So he swayed the hearts of all the men of Judah, just as the heart of one man, so that they sent this word to the king: "Return, you and all your servants!" 19:15 Then the king returned and came to the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to escort the king across the Jordan. 19:16 And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, who was from Bahurim, hastened and came down with the men of Judah to meet King David. 19:17 There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over the Jordan before the king. 19:18 Then a ferryboat went across to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. Now Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king when he had crossed the Jordan. 19:19 Then he said to the king, "Do not let my lord impute iniquity to me, or remember what wrong your servant did on the day that my lord the king left Jerusalem, that the king should take it to heart. 19:20 "For I, your servant, know that I have sinned. Therefore here I am, the first to come today of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king." 19:21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, "Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed?" 19:22 And David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be adversaries to me today? Shall any man be put to death today in Israel? For do I not know that today I am king over Israel?" 19:23 Therefore the king said to Shimei, "You shall not die." And the king swore to him. 19:24 Now Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king. And he had not cared for his feet, nor trimmed his mustache, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he returned in peace. 19:25 So it was, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, "Why did you not go with me, Mephibosheth?" 19:26 And he answered, "My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, 'I will saddle a donkey for myself, that I may ride on it and go to the king,' because your servant is lame. 19:27 "And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king, but my lord the king is like the angel of God. Therefore do what is good in your eyes. 19:28 "For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king. Yet you set your servant among those who eat at your own table. Therefore what right have I still to cry out anymore to the king?" 19:29 So the king said to him, "Why do you speak anymore of your matters? I have said, 'You and Ziba divide the land.' " 19:30 Then Mephibosheth said to the king, "Rather, let him take it all, inasmuch as my lord the king has come back in peace to his own house." 19:31 And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim and went across the Jordan with the king, to escort him across the Jordan. 19:32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old. And he had provided the king with supplies while he stayed at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man. 19:33 And the king said to Barzillai, "Come across with me, and I will provide for you while you are with me in Jerusalem." 19:34 But Barzillai said to the king, "How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? 19:35 "I am today eighty years old. Can I discern between the good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any longer the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be a further burden to my lord the king? 19:36 "Your servant will go a little way across the Jordan with the king. And why should the king repay me with such a reward? 19:37 "Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, near the grave of my father and mother. But here is your servant Chimham; let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what seems good to you." 19:38 And the king answered, "Chimham shall cross over with me, and I will do for him what seems good to you. Now whatever you request of me, I will do for you." 19:39 Then all the people went over the Jordan. And when the king had crossed over, the king kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and he returned to his own place. 19:40 Now the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him. And all the people of Judah escorted the king, and also half the people of Israel. 19:41 Just then all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, "Why have our brethren, the men of Judah, stolen you away and brought the king, his household, and all David's men with him across the Jordan?" 19:42 So all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, "Because the king is a close relative of ours. Why then are you angry over this matter? Have we ever eaten at the king's expense? Or has he given us any gift?" 19:43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten shares in the king; therefore we also have more right to David than you. Why then do you despise us-were we not the first to advise bringing back our king?" Yet the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
2:13 ユダヤ人の過越祭が近づいたので、イエスはエルサレムへ上って行かれた。 2:14 そして、神殿の境内で牛や羊や鳩を売っている者たちと、座って両替をしている者たちを御覧になった。 2:15 イエスは縄で鞭を作り、羊や牛をすべて境内から追い出し、両替人の金をまき散らし、その台を倒し、 2:16 鳩を売る者たちに言われた。「このような物はここから運び出せ。わたしの父の家を商売の家としてはならない。」 2:17 弟子たちは、「あなたの家を思う熱意がわたしを食い尽くす」と書いてあるのを思い出した。 2:18 ユダヤ人たちはイエスに、「あなたは、こんなことをするからには、どんなしるしをわたしたちに見せるつもりか」と言った。 2:19 イエスは答えて言われた。「この神殿を壊してみよ。三日で建て直してみせる。」 2:20 それでユダヤ人たちは、「この神殿は建てるのに四十六年もかかったのに、あなたは三日で建て直すのか」と言った。 2:21 イエスの言われる神殿とは、御自分の体のことだったのである。 2:22 イエスが死者の中から復活されたとき、弟子たちは、イエスがこう言われたのを思い出し、聖書とイエスの語られた言葉とを信じた。
2:23 イエスは過越祭の間エルサレムにおられたが、そのなさったしるしを見て、多くの人がイエスの名を信じた。 2:24 しかし、イエス御自身は彼らを信用されなかった。それは、すべての人のことを知っておられ、 2:25 人間についてだれからも証ししてもらう必要がなかったからである。イエスは、何が人間の心の中にあるかをよく知っておられたのである。
2:13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2:14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business. 2:15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables. 2:16 And He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" 2:17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up." 2:18 So the Jews answered and said to Him, "What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?" 2:19 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 2:20 Then the Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" 2:21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body. 2:22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said. 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. 2:24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, 2:25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.
