2:1 ハンナは祈って言った。「主にあってわたしの心は喜び／主にあってわたしは角を高く上げる。わたしは敵に対して口を大きく開き／御救いを喜び祝う。 2:2 聖なる方は主のみ。あなたと並ぶ者はだれもいない。岩と頼むのはわたしたちの神のみ。 2:3 驕り高ぶるな、高ぶって語るな。思い上がった言葉を口にしてはならない。主は何事も知っておられる神／人の行いが正されずに済むであろうか。 2:4 勇士の弓は折られるが／よろめく者は力を帯びる。 2:5 食べ飽きている者はパンのために雇われ／飢えている者は再び飢えることがない。子のない女は七人の子を産み／多くの子をもつ女は衰える。 2:6 主は命を絶ち、また命を与え／陰府に下し、また引き上げてくださる。 2:7 主は貧しくし、また富ませ／低くし、また高めてくださる。 2:8 弱い者を塵の中から立ち上がらせ／貧しい者を芥の中から高く上げ／高貴な者と共に座に着かせ／栄光の座を嗣業としてお与えになる。大地のもろもろの柱は主のもの／主は世界をそれらの上に据えられた。 2:9 主の慈しみに生きる者の足を主は守り／主に逆らう者を闇の沈黙に落とされる。人は力によって勝つのではない。 2:10 主は逆らう者を打ち砕き／天から彼らに雷鳴をとどろかされる。主は地の果てまで裁きを及ぼし／王に力を与え／油注がれた者の角を高く上げられる。」 2:11 エルカナはラマの家に帰った。幼子は祭司エリのもとにとどまって、主に仕えた。

2:1 And Hannah prayed and said:"My heart rejoices in the Lord;My horn is exalted in the Lord.I smile at my enemies,Because I rejoice in Your salvation. 2:2 "No one is holy like the Lord,For there is none besides You,Nor is there any rock like our God. 2:3 "Talk no more so very proudly;Let no arrogance come from your mouth,For the Lord is the God of knowledge;And by Him actions are weighed. 2:4 "The bows of the mighty men are broken,And those who stumbled are girded with strength. 2:5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,And the hungry have ceased to hunger.Even the barren has borne seven,And she who has many children has become feeble. 2:6 "The Lord kills and makes alive;He brings down to the grave and brings up. 2:7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich;He brings low and lifts up. 2:8 He raises the poor from the dustAnd lifts the beggar from the ash heap,To set them among princesAnd make them inherit the throne of glory."For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's,And He has set the world upon them. 2:9 He will guard the feet of His saints,But the wicked shall be silent in darkness."For by strength no man shall prevail. 2:10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces;From heaven He will thunder against them.The Lord will judge the ends of the earth."He will give strength to His king,And exalt the horn of His anointed." 2:11 Then Elkanah went to his house at Ramah. But the child ministered to the Lord before Eli the priest. 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the Lord. 2:13 And the priests' custom with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant would come with a three-pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. 2:14 Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there. 2:15 Also, before they burned the fat, the priest's servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, "Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw." 2:16 And if the man said to him, "They should really burn the fat first; then you may take as much as your heart desires," he would then answer him, "No, but you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force." 2:17 Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, for men abhorred the offering of the Lord. 2:18 But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. 2:19 Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. 2:20 And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, "The Lord give you descendants from this woman for the loan that was given to the Lord." Then they would go to their own home. 2:21 And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the child Samuel grew before the Lord. 2:22 Now Eli was very old; and he heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 2:23 So he said to them, "Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people. 2:24 "No, my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the Lord's people transgress. 2:25 "If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?" Nevertheless they did not heed the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to kill them. 2:26 And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the Lord and men. 2:27 Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him, "Thus says the Lord: 'Did I not clearly reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house? 2:28 'Did I not choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire? 2:29 'Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?' 2:30 "Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: 'I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.' But now the Lord says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 2:31 'Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. 2:32 'And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. 2:33 'But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age. 2:34 'Now this shall be a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them. 2:35 'Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. 2:36 'And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and say, "Please, put me in one of the priestly positions, that I may eat a piece of bread." ' "

16:14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. 16:15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. 16:16 "The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. 16:17 "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail. 16:18 "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery. 16:19 "There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 16:20 "But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 16:21 "desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 16:22 "So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 16:23 "And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 16:24 "Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.' 16:27 "Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 16:28 'for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' 16:29 "Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' 16:30 "And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' 16:31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' "
