26:1 "And it shall be, when you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it, 26:2 "that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the ground, which you shall bring from your land that the Lord your God is giving you, and put it in a basket and go to the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide. 26:3 "And you shall go to the one who is priest in those days, and say to him, 'I declare today to the Lord your God that I have come to the country which the Lord swore to our fathers to give us.' 26:4 "Then the priest shall take the basket out of your hand and set it down before the altar of the Lord your God. 26:5 "And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God: 'My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous. 26:6 'But the Egyptians mistreated us, afflicted us, and laid hard bondage on us. 26:7 'Then we cried out to the Lord God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and looked on our affliction and our labor and our oppression. 26:8 'So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. 26:9 'He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, "a land flowing with milk and honey"; 26:10 'and now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which you, O Lord, have given me.' Then you shall set it before the Lord your God, and worship before the Lord your God. 26:11 "So you shall rejoice in every good thing which the Lord your God has given to you and your house, you and the Levite and the stranger who is among you. 26:12 "When you have finished laying aside all the tithe of your increase in the third year-the year of tithing-and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be filled, 26:13 "then you shall say before the Lord your God: 'I have removed the holy tithe from my house, and also have given them to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed Your commandments, nor have I forgotten them. 26:14 'I have not eaten any of it when in mourning, nor have I removed any of it for an unclean use, nor given any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and have done according to all that You have commanded me. 26:15 'Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land which You have given us, just as You swore to our fathers, "a land flowing with milk and honey." ' 26:16 "This day the Lord your God commands you to observe these statutes and judgments; therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. 26:17 "Today you have proclaimed the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice. 26:18 "Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments, 26:19 "and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the Lord your God, just as He has spoken."

73:1 Truly God is good to Israel,To such as are pure in heart. 73:2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled;My steps had nearly slipped. 73:3 For I was envious of the boastful,When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 73:4 For there are no pangs in their death,But their strength is firm. 73:5 They are not in trouble as other men,Nor are they plagued like other men. 73:6 Therefore pride serves as their necklace;Violence covers them like a garment. 73:7 Their eyes bulge with abundance;They have more than heart could wish. 73:8 They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression;They speak loftily. 73:9 They set their mouth against the heavens,And their tongue walks through the earth. 73:10 Therefore his people return here,And waters of a full cup are drained by them. 73:11 And they say, "How does God know?And is there knowledge in the Most High?" 73:12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease;They increase in riches. 73:13 Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain,And washed my hands in innocence. 73:14 For all day long I have been plagued,And chastened every morning. 73:15 If I had said, "I will speak thus,"Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. 73:16 When I thought how to understand this,It was too painful for me- 73:17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God;Then I understood their end. 73:18 Surely You set them in slippery places;You cast them down to destruction. 73:19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment!They are utterly consumed with terrors. 73:20 As a dream when one awakes,So, Lord, when You awake,You shall despise their image. 73:21 Thus my heart was grieved,And I was vexed in my mind. 73:22 I was so foolish and ignorant;I was like a beast before You. 73:23 Nevertheless I am continually with You;You hold me by my right hand. 73:24 You will guide me with Your counsel,And afterward receive me to glory. 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but You?And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 73:26 My flesh and my heart fail;But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 73:27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish;You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God;I have put my trust in the Lord God,That I may declare all Your works.
