5:1 アラムの王の軍司令官ナアマンは、主君に重んじられ、気に入られていた。主がかつて彼を用いてアラムに勝利を与えられたからである。この人は勇士であったが、重い皮膚病を患っていた。 5:2 アラム人がかつて部隊を編成して出動したとき、彼らはイスラエルの地から一人の少女を捕虜として連れて来て、ナアマンの妻の召し使いにしていた。 5:3 少女は女主人に言った。「御主人様がサマリアの預言者のところにおいでになれば、その重い皮膚病をいやしてもらえるでしょうに。」 5:4 ナアマンが主君のもとに行き、「イスラエルの地から来た娘がこのようなことを言っています」と伝えると、 5:5 アラムの王は言った。「行くがよい。わたしもイスラエルの王に手紙を送ろう。」こうしてナアマンは銀十キカル、金六千シェケル、着替えの服十着を携えて出かけた。 5:6 彼はイスラエルの王に手紙を持って行った。そこには、こうしたためられていた。「今、この手紙をお届けするとともに、家臣ナアマンを送り、あなたに託します。彼の重い皮膚病をいやしてくださいますように。」 5:7 イスラエルの王はこの手紙を読むと、衣を裂いて言った。「わたしが人を殺したり生かしたりする神だとでも言うのか。この人は皮膚病の男を送りつけていやせと言う。よく考えてみよ。彼はわたしに言いがかりをつけようとしているのだ。」 5:8 神の人エリシャはイスラエルの王が衣を裂いたことを聞き、王のもとに人を遣わして言った。「なぜあなたは衣を裂いたりしたのですか。その男をわたしのところによこしてください。彼はイスラエルに預言者がいることを知るでしょう。」 5:9 ナアマンは数頭の馬と共に戦車に乗ってエリシャの家に来て、その入り口に立った。 5:10 エリシャは使いの者をやってこう言わせた。「ヨルダン川に行って七度身を洗いなさい。そうすれば、あなたの体は元に戻り、清くなります。」 5:11 ナアマンは怒ってそこを去り、こう言った。「彼が自ら出て来て、わたしの前に立ち、彼の神、主の名を呼び、患部の上で手を動かし、皮膚病をいやしてくれるものと思っていた。 5:12 イスラエルのどの流れの水よりもダマスコの川アバナやパルパルの方が良いではないか。これらの川で洗って清くなれないというのか。」彼は身を翻して、憤慨しながら去って行った。 5:13 しかし、彼の家来たちが近づいて来ていさめた。「わが父よ、あの預言者が大変なことをあなたに命じたとしても、あなたはそのとおりなさったにちがいありません。あの預言者は、『身を洗え、そうすれば清くなる』と言っただけではありませんか。」 5:14 ナアマンは神の人の言葉どおりに下って行って、ヨルダンに七度身を浸した。彼の体は元に戻り、小さい子供の体のようになり、清くなった。 5:15 彼は随員全員を連れて神の人のところに引き返し、その前に来て立った。「イスラエルのほか、この世界のどこにも神はおられないことが分かりました。今この僕からの贈り物をお受け取りください。」 5:16 神の人は、「わたしの仕えている主は生きておられる。わたしは受け取らない」と辞退した。ナアマンは彼に強いて受け取らせようとしたが、彼は断った。 5:17 ナアマンは言った。「それなら、らば二頭に負わせることができるほどの土をこの僕にください。僕は今後、主以外の他の神々に焼き尽くす献げ物やその他のいけにえをささげることはしません。 5:18 ただし、この事については主が僕を赦してくださいますように。わたしの主君がリモンの神殿に行ってひれ伏すとき、わたしは介添えをさせられます。そのとき、わたしもリモンの神殿でひれ伏さねばなりません。わたしがリモンの神殿でひれ伏すとき、主がその事についてこの僕を赦してくださいますように。」 5:19 エリシャは彼に、「安心して行きなさい」と言った。ナアマンがエリシャと別れて、少し行ったとき、 5:20 神の人エリシャの従者ゲハジは、「わたしの主人は、あのアラム人ナアマンが持って来たものを何も受け取らずに帰してしまった。主は生きておられる。彼を追いかけて何かもらってこよう」と言って、 5:21 ナアマンの後を追った。ナアマンは彼が後を追って来るのを見て、戦車から飛び降り、彼を迎え、「どうかなさいましたか」と尋ねた。 5:22 彼は答えた。「何でもありません。わたしの主人がわたしを遣わしてこう言いました。『今し方預言者の仲間の若い者が二人エフライムの山地から着いた。彼らに銀一キカルと着替えの服二着を与えてほしい。』」 5:23 ナアマンは、「どうぞ、二キカル取ってください」と言ってしきりに勧め、二つの袋に銀二キカルを詰め、着替えの服二着を添えて、自分の従者二人に渡した。彼らはそれを持ち、ゲハジの先に立って進んだ。 5:24 オフェルに着いたとき、ゲハジは彼らからそれらを受け取って家にしまい込み、彼らを帰した。彼らは去って行った。 5:25 彼が主人のところに来て立つと、エリシャは、「ゲハジ、お前はどこに行っていたのか」と言った。ゲハジは、「僕はどこにも行っていません」と答えたが、 5:26 エリシャは言った。「あの人が戦車から降りて引き返し、お前を迎えたとき、わたしの心がそこに行っていなかったとでも言うのか。今は銀を受け、衣服、オリーブの木やぶどう畑、羊や牛、男女の奴隷を受け取る時であろうか。 5:27 ナアマンの重い皮膚病がお前とお前の子孫にいつまでもまといつくことになるのに。」ゲハジは重い皮膚病で雪のようになり、エリシャの前から立ち去った。
5:1 Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. 5:2 And the Syrians had gone out on raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman's wife. 5:3 Then she said to her mistress, "If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy." 5:4 And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, "Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel." 5:5 Then the king of Syria said, "Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel." So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of clothing. 5:6 Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said, Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy. 5:7 And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said, "Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? Therefore please consider, and see how he seeks a quarrel with me." 5:8 So it was, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, "Why have you torn your clothes? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel." 5:9 Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha's house. 5:10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean." 5:11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, "Indeed, I said to myself, 'He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.' 5:12 "Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage. 5:13 And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?" 5:14 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 5:15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, "Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel; now therefore, please take a gift from your servant." 5:16 But he said, "As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I will receive nothing." And he urged him to take it, but he refused. 5:17 So Naaman said, "Then, if not, please let your servant be given two mule-loads of earth; for your servant will no longer offer either burnt offering or sacrifice to other gods, but to the Lord. 5:18 "Yet in this thing may the Lord pardon your servant: when my master goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow down in the temple of Rimmon-when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord please pardon your servant in this thing." 5:19 Then he said to him, "Go in peace." So he departed from him a short distance. 5:20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, "Look, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the Lord lives, I will run after him and take something from him." 5:21 So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, "Is all well?" 5:22 And he said, "All is well. My master has sent me, saying, 'Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.' " 5:23 So Naaman said, "Please, take two talents." And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and handed them to two of his servants; and they carried them on ahead of him. 5:24 When he came to the citadel, he took them from their hand, and stored them away in the house; then he let the men go, and they departed. 5:25 Now he went in and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, "Where did you go, Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant did not go anywhere." 5:26 Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants? 5:27 "Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever." And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.
12:36 光の子となるために、光のあるうちに、光を信じなさい。」
12:36 イエスはこれらのことを話してから、立ち去って彼らから身を隠された。 12:37 このように多くのしるしを彼らの目の前で行われたが、彼らはイエスを信じなかった。 12:38 預言者イザヤの言葉が実現するためであった。彼はこう言っている。「主よ、だれがわたしたちの知らせを信じましたか。主の御腕は、だれに示されましたか。」 12:39 彼らが信じることができなかった理由を、イザヤはまた次のように言っている。 12:40 「神は彼らの目を見えなくし、／その心をかたくなにされた。こうして、彼らは目で見ることなく、／心で悟らず、立ち帰らない。わたしは彼らをいやさない。」 12:41 イザヤは、イエスの栄光を見たので、このように言い、イエスについて語ったのである。 12:42 とはいえ、議員の中にもイエスを信じる者は多かった。ただ、会堂から追放されるのを恐れ、ファリサイ派の人々をはばかって公に言い表さなかった。 12:43 彼らは、神からの誉れよりも、人間からの誉れの方を好んだのである。
12:44 イエスは叫んで、こう言われた。「わたしを信じる者は、わたしを信じるのではなくて、わたしを遣わされた方を信じるのである。 12:45 わたしを見る者は、わたしを遣わされた方を見るのである。 12:46 わたしを信じる者が、だれも暗闇の中にとどまることのないように、わたしは光として世に来た。 12:47 わたしの言葉を聞いて、それを守らない者がいても、わたしはその者を裁かない。わたしは、世を裁くためではなく、世を救うために来たからである。 12:48 わたしを拒み、わたしの言葉を受け入れない者に対しては、裁くものがある。わたしの語った言葉が、終わりの日にその者を裁く。 12:49 なぜなら、わたしは自分勝手に語ったのではなく、わたしをお遣わしになった父が、わたしの言うべきこと、語るべきことをお命じになったからである。 12:50 父の命令は永遠の命であることを、わたしは知っている。だから、わたしが語ることは、父がわたしに命じられたままに語っているのである。」
These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them. 12:37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, 12:38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke:"Lord, who has believed our report?And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: 12:40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,Lest they should see with their eyes,Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,So that I should heal them." 12:41 These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him. 12:42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 12:43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 12:45 "And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 12:46 "I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 12:47 "And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 12:48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him-the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 12:49 "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 12:50 "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
