31:1 第十一年の三月一日に、主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ。 31:2 「人の子よ、エジプトの王ファラオとその軍勢に向かって言いなさい。お前の偉大さは誰と比べられよう。 31:3 見よ、あなたは糸杉、レバノンの杉だ。その枝は美しく、豊かな陰をつくり／丈は高く、梢は雲間にとどいた。 31:4 水がそれを育て、淵がそれを大きくした。淵から流れる川は杉の周りを潤し／水路は野のすべての木に水を送った。 31:5 その丈は野のすべての木より高くなり／豊かに注ぐ水のゆえに／大枝は茂り、若枝は伸びた。 31:6 大枝には空のすべての鳥が巣を作り／若枝の下では野のすべての獣が子を産み／多くの国民が皆、その木陰に住んだ。 31:7 丈は高く、枝は長く伸びて美しかった。豊かな水に根をおろしていたからだ。 31:8 神の園の杉もこれに及ばず／樅の木も、その大枝に比べえず／すずかけの木もその若枝と競いえず／神の園のどの木も美しさを比べえなかった。 31:9 わたしが、多くの枝で美しく飾ったので／神の園エデンのすべての木もうらやんだ。 31:10 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。彼の丈は高くされ、その梢を雲の間に伸ばしたので、心は驕り高ぶった。 31:11 わたしは彼を諸国の民の最も強い者の手に渡す。その者は彼を悪行に応じて扱う。わたしは彼を追放する。 31:12 諸国の最も凶暴な民である異国人が彼を切り倒し、山々の上に捨てる。その枝はすべての谷間に落ち、若枝は切られて地のすべての谷を埋める。地上のすべての民は、その木陰から逃げ去り、彼を捨てる。 31:13 彼の倒された幹には、空のすべての鳥が住み／若枝のもとには、野のすべての獣がやどる。 31:14 もはや、水のほとりの木もすべて丈を高くしえず、梢を雲の間に伸ばしえず、水に潤う木も、高ぶってそびえ立つことはできない。彼らはすべて死に渡され、穴に下る人の子らと共に地の深き所へ行く。 31:15 主なる神はこう言われる。彼が陰府に下る日に、わたしは彼のゆえに淵を喪に服させ、彼を覆う。わたしが川をせき止めるので、豊かな水も干上がる。またレバノンに彼の弔いをさせるので、野のすべての木も、彼のゆえにしおれる。 31:16 穴に下る者と共に彼を陰府に下すとき、わたしは彼の倒れる音で諸国民を揺り動かす。そのとき地の深き所で、エデンのすべての木も、レバノンのえり抜きの美しい木も、水に潤うすべての木も、再び慰められる。 31:17 彼らも、彼と共に陰府に、剣で倒れた者たちのところに下って行った。かつて諸国民の間で、彼の陰に宿っていた仲間たちも共に。 31:18 お前は、エデンの木のなかで、栄光と偉大さを誰と比べられたか。しかし、お前はエデンの木々と共に地の深き所に落とされ、割礼のない者の間で、剣によって倒された者と共に住むであろう。これがファラオとそのすべての軍勢の運命である」と主なる神は言われる。
31:1 Now it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 31:2 "Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his multitude:'Whom are you like in your greatness? 31:3 Indeed Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon,With fine branches that shaded the forest,And of high stature;And its top was among the thick boughs. 31:4 The waters made it grow;Underground waters gave it height,With their rivers running around the place where it was planted,And sent out rivulets to all the trees of the field. 31:5 'Therefore its height was exalted above all the trees of the field;Its boughs were multiplied,And its branches became long because of the abundance of water,As it sent them out. 31:6 All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs;Under its branches all the beasts of the field brought forth their young;And in its shadow all great nations made their home. 31:7 'Thus it was beautiful in greatness and in the length of its branches,Because its roots reached to abundant waters. 31:8 The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it;The fir trees were not like its boughs,And the chestnut trees were not like its branches;No tree in the garden of God was like it in beauty. 31:9 I made it beautiful with a multitude of branches,So that all the trees of Eden envied it,That were in the garden of God.' 31:10 "Therefore thus says the Lord God: 'Because you have increased in height, and it set its top among the thick boughs, and its heart was lifted up in its height, 31:11 'therefore I will deliver it into the hand of the mighty one of the nations, and he shall surely deal with it; I have driven it out for its wickedness. 31:12 'And aliens, the most terrible of the nations, have cut it down and left it; its branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys; its boughs lie broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the peoples of the earth have gone from under its shadow and left it. 31:13 'On its ruin will remain all the birds of the heavens,And all the beasts of the field will come to its branches- 31:14 'So that no trees by the waters may ever again exalt themselves for their height, nor set their tops among the thick boughs, that no tree which drinks water may ever be high enough to reach up to them.'For they have all been delivered to death,To the depths of the earth,Among the children of men who go down to the Pit.' 31:15 "Thus says the Lord God: 'In the day when it went down to hell, I caused mourning. I covered the deep because of it. I restrained its rivers, and the great waters were held back. I caused Lebanon to mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted because of it. 31:16 'I made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I cast it down to hell together with those who descend into the Pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the depths of the earth. 31:17 'They also went down to hell with it, with those slain by the sword; and those who were its strong arm dwelt in its shadows among the nations. 31:18 'To which of the trees in Eden will you then be likened in glory and greatness? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the depths of the earth; you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,' says the Lord God."
13:18 わたしたちのために祈ってください。わたしたちは、明らかな良心を持っていると確信しており、すべてのことにおいて、立派にふるまいたいと思っています。 13:19 特にお願いします。どうか、わたしがあなたがたのところへ早く帰れるように、祈ってください。

13:18 Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. 13:19 But I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 13:21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. 13:22 And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words. 13:23 Know that our brother Timothy has been set free, with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly. 13:24 Greet all those who rule over you, and all the saints.
