17:1 主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ。 17:2 「人の子よ、イスラエルの家に向かって謎をかけ、たとえを語りなさい。 17:3 あなたは言わねばならない。主なる神はこう言われる。大きな翼と長い羽をもち／彩り豊かな羽毛に覆われた大鷲が／レバノンに飛来する。その鷲はレバノン杉の梢を切り取り 17:4 その頂の若い枝を折って／商業の地に運び、商人の町に置いた。 17:5 また、その地の種を取って苗床に蒔き／苗を豊かな水のほとりに柳のように植えた。 17:6 やがてそれは育ち／低く生い茂るぶどうの木となった。その枝は鷲の方に向かって伸び／根はその鷲の下に張り／若枝を広げ、つるの伸びたぶどうの木となった。 17:7 また、もう一羽の大鷲がいた。これも大きな翼と多くの羽毛を持っていた。このぶどうの木は／その植えられていた場所から／根をこの鷲の方に向け／若枝をこの鷲の方に伸ばして／水を得ようとした。 17:8 このぶどうの木は／枝を伸ばし、実を結ぶ／立派なぶどうの木となるように／水の豊かなよい地に植えられていた。 17:9 語れ。主なる神はこう言われる。このぶどうの木は成長するだろうか。その根は引き抜かれ／実はもぎ取られないだろうか。芽生えた葉はすべてしおれてしまわないだろうか。それはしおれてしまう。それを根から引き抜くのに／大きな力も、多くの人も必要としない。 17:10 それは植えられはしたが／果たして成長するだろうか。東風が吹きつけたなら／しおれてしまわないだろうか。その芽を出した場所で、しおれるであろう。 17:11 主なる神の言葉がわたしに臨んだ。 17:12 さあ、この反逆の家に語りなさい。このたとえが何を意味するか、お前たちには分からないのか。バビロンの王がエルサレムに来て、王とその家来たちを捕らえ、彼らをバビロンへ連れて行った。 17:13 そして、王の子らの一人を選び、これと契約を結び、誓いを立てさせ、更に、この国の有力者をも連れて行った。 17:14 それは、この王国が高ぶることなく従順になり、契約を守り続けるようにさせるためであった。 17:15 しかし、彼は王に背き、エジプトに使者を送って馬と軍勢を得ようとした。果たして、それでうまくいくだろうか。こんなことをして助かるだろうか。契約を破っておきながら、助かるだろうか。 17:16 わたしは生きている、と主なる神は言われる。彼は、自分を王位につけた大王に対する誓いを軽んじ、彼との契約を破ったので、大王の国バビロンで必ず死ぬ。 17:17 戦いになって、塁が築かれ、堡塁が建てられ、多くの命が滅ぼされようとも、ファラオは彼のために、強力な軍隊や多数の兵隊をもって戦いはしない。 17:18 彼は誓いを軽んじ、契約を破った。彼は約束をしながら、これらすべての事を行った。彼は逃れることができない。 17:19 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。わたしは生きている。わたしは、彼が軽んじたわたしの誓いと、彼が破ったわたしの契約とを、必ず彼の頭上に報いる。 17:20 わたしは彼の上に網を広げ、彼はわたしの罠にかかる。わたしは彼をバビロンへ連れて行き、彼がわたしに対して行った背信のゆえに、その地で彼を裁く。 17:21 彼の全軍の中で、逃れた者もすべて剣に倒れ、更に残った者がいても四方に散らされる。そのとき、お前たちは、主であるわたしが語ったことを知るようになる。 17:22 主なる神はこう言われる。わたしは高いレバノン杉の梢を切り取って植え、その柔らかい若枝を折って、高くそびえる山の上に移し植える。 17:23 イスラエルの高い山にそれを移し植えると、それは枝を伸ばし実をつけ、うっそうとしたレバノン杉となり、あらゆる鳥がそのもとに宿り、翼のあるものはすべてその枝の陰に住むようになる。 17:24 そのとき、野のすべての木々は、主であるわたしが、高い木を低くし、低い木を高くし、また生き生きとした木を枯らし、枯れた木を茂らせることを知るようになる。」主であるわたしがこれを語り、実行する。

' 17:9 "Say, 'Thus says the Lord God:"Will it thrive?Will he not pull up its roots,Cut off its fruit,And leave it to wither?All of its spring leaves will wither,And no great power or many peopleWill be needed to pluck it up by its roots. 17:10 Behold, it is planted,Will it thrive?Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it?It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew." ' " 17:11 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 17:12 "Say now to the rebellious house: 'Do you not know what these things mean?' Tell them, 'Indeed the king of Babylon went to Jerusalem and took its king and princes, and led them with him to Babylon. 17:13 'And he took the king's offspring, made a covenant with him, and put him under oath. He also took away the mighty of the land, 17:14 'that the kingdom might be brought low and not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand. 17:15 'But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Can he break a covenant and still be delivered? 17:16 'As I live,' says the Lord God, 'surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke-with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. 17:17 'Nor will Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company do anything in the war, when they heap up a siege mound and build a wall to cut off many persons. 17:18 'Since he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and in fact gave his hand and still did all these things, he shall not escape.' " 17:19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "As I live, surely My oath which he despised, and My covenant which he broke, I will recompense on his own head. 17:20 "I will spread My net over him, and he shall be taken in My snare. I will bring him to Babylon and try him there for the treason which he committed against Me. 17:21 "All his fugitives with all his troops shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered to every wind; and you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken." 17:22 Thus says the Lord God: "I will take also one of the highest branches of the high cedar and set it out. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and prominent mountain. 17:23 "On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it; and it will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a majestic cedar. Under it will dwell birds of every sort; in the shadow of its branches they will dwell. 17:24 "And all the trees of the field shall know that I, the Lord, have brought down the high tree and exalted the low tree, dried up the green tree and made the dry tree flourish; I, the Lord, have spoken and have done it."

Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
