4:1 なにゆえ、黄金は光を失い／純金はさげすまれているのか。どの街角にも／聖所の石が打ち捨てられているのか。 4:2 貴いシオンの子ら、金にも比べられた人々が／なにゆえ、土の器とみなされ／陶工の手になるものとみなされるのか。 4:3 山犬ですら乳を与えて子を養うというのに／わが民の娘は残酷になり／荒れ野の駝鳥のようにふるまう。 4:4 乳飲み子の舌は渇いて上顎に付き／幼子はパンを求めるが、分け与える者もいない。 4:5 美食に馴れた者も、街にあえぎ／紫の衣に包まれて育った者も塵にまみれている。 4:6 ソドムは、その罪のゆえに／人の手によらず、一瞬にして滅んだが／わたしの民の娘は／それよりも重い罪を犯したのだ。 4:7 この民のナジル人らは雪よりも清く／乳よりも白く輝いていた。骨は真珠よりも輝き、姿は水晶のようであった。 4:8 だが、彼らの容姿はすすよりも黒くなり／街で彼らと気づく者もないほどになり／皮膚は骨に張り付き／枯れ木のようになった。 4:9 剣に貫かれて死んだ者は／飢えに貫かれた者より幸いだ。刺し貫かれて血を流す方が／畑の実りを失うよりも幸いだ。 4:10 憐れみ深い女の手が自分の子供を煮炊きした。わたしの民の娘が打ち砕かれた日／それを自分の食糧としたのだ。 4:11 主の憤りは極まり／主は燃える怒りを注がれた。シオンに火は燃え上がり／都の礎までもなめ尽くした。 4:12 わたしたちを苦しめる敵が／エルサレムの城門から入るなどと／地上の王の誰が／この世に住む誰が、信じえたであろう。 4:13 これはエルサレムの預言者らの罪のゆえ／祭司らの悪のゆえだ。エルサレムのただ中に／正しい人々の血を注ぎ出したからだ。 4:14 彼らは血に汚れ／目は見えず、街をさまよう。その衣に触れることはだれにも許されない。 4:15 「去れ、汚れた者よ」と人々は叫ぶ。「去れ、去れ、何にも触れるな」と。「こうしてさまよい歩け」と国々は言う。「再びここに住むことはならない」と。 4:16 主は御顔を背け／再び目を留めてはくださらない。祭司らは見捨てられ／長老らは顧みられない。 4:17 今なお、わたしたちの目は／援軍を求めていたずらに疲れ／救ってはくれない他国をなお見張って待つ。 4:18 町の広場を歩こうとしても／一歩一歩をうかがうものがある。終りの時が近づき、わたしたちの日は満ちる。まさに、終りの時が来たのだ。 4:19 わたしたちに追い迫る者は／空を飛ぶ鷲よりも速く／山々にわたしたちを追い回し／荒れ野に待ち伏せる。 4:20 主の油注がれた者、わたしたちの命の息吹／その人が彼らの罠に捕えられた。異国民の中にあるときも、その人の陰で／生き抜こうと頼みにした、その人が。 4:21 娘エドムよ、喜び祝うがよい／ウツの地に住む女よ。お前にもこの杯は廻って来るのだ。そのときは、酔いしれて裸になるがよい。 4:22 おとめシオンよ、悪事の赦される時が来る。再び捕囚となることはない。娘エドムよ、罪の罰せられる時が来る。お前の罪はことごとくあばかれる。
4:1 How the gold has become dim!How changed the fine gold!The stones of the sanctuary are scatteredAt the head of every street. 4:2 The precious sons of Zion,Valuable as fine gold,How they are regarded as clay pots,The work of the hands of the potter! 4:3 Even the jackals present their breastsTo nurse their young;But the daughter of my people is cruel,Like ostriches in the wilderness. 4:4 The tongue of the infant clingsTo the roof of its mouth for thirst;The young children ask for bread,But no one breaks it for them. 4:5 Those who ate delicaciesAre desolate in the streets;Those who were brought up in scarletEmbrace ash heaps. 4:6 The punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my peopleIs greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom,Which was overthrown in a moment,With no hand to help her! 4:7 Her Nazirites were brighter than snowAnd whiter than milk;They were more ruddy in body than rubies,Like sapphire in their appearance. 4:8 Now their appearance is blacker than soot;They go unrecognized in the streets;Their skin clings to their bones,It has become as dry as wood. 4:9 Those slain by the sword are better offThan those who die of hunger;For these pine away,Stricken for lack of the fruits of the field. 4:10 The hands of the compassionate womenHave cooked their own children;They became food for themIn the destruction of the daughter of my people. 4:11 The Lord has fulfilled His fury,He has poured out His fierce anger.He kindled a fire in Zion,And it has devoured its foundations. 4:12 The kings of the earth,And all inhabitants of the world,Would not have believedThat the adversary and the enemyCould enter the gates of Jerusalem- 4:13 Because of the sins of her prophetsAnd the iniquities of her priests,Who shed in her midstThe blood of the just. 4:14 They wandered blind in the streets;They have defiled themselves with blood,So that no one would touch their garments. 4:15 They cried out to them,"Go away, unclean!Go away, go away,Do not touch us!"When they fled and wandered,Those among the nations said,"They shall no longer dwell here." 4:16 The face of the Lord scattered them;He no longer regards them.The people do not respect the priestsNor show favor to the elders. 4:17 Still our eyes failed us,Watching vainly for our help;In our watching we watchedFor a nation that could not save us. 4:18 They tracked our stepsSo that we could not walk in our streets.Our end was near;Our days were over,For our end had come. 4:19 Our pursuers were swifterThan the eagles of the heavens.They pursued us on the mountainsAnd lay in wait for us in the wilderness. 4:20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the Lord,Was caught in their pits,Of whom we said, "Under his shadowWe shall live among the nations." 4:21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom,You who dwell in the land of Uz!The cup shall also pass over to youAnd you shall become drunk and make yourself naked. 4:22 The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished,O daughter of Zion;He will no longer send you into captivity.He will punish your iniquity,O daughter of Edom;He will uncover your sins!

1:8 Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to command you what is fitting, 1:9 yet for love's sake I rather appeal to you-being such a one as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ- 1:10 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains, 1:11 who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me. 1:12 I am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own heart, 1:13 whom I wished to keep with me, that on your behalf he might minister to me in my chains for the gospel. 1:14 But without your consent I wanted to do nothing, that your good deed might not be by compulsion, as it were, but voluntary.
