41:1 ところが七月に、王族の一人で、王の高官でもあった、エリシャマの孫でネタンヤの子であるイシュマエルが、十人の部下を率いてミツパに赴き、アヒカムの子ゲダルヤを訪ね、ミツパで食事を共にした。 41:2 そのとき、ネタンヤの子イシュマエルと、彼と共にいた十人の部下は、突然襲いかかって、バビロンの王がその地に立てて総督としたシャファンの孫でアヒカムの子であるゲダルヤを剣にかけて殺した。 41:3 またイシュマエルは、ゲダルヤと共にミツパにいたユダのすべての人々と、そこに占領軍として駐留していたカルデア人を打ち殺した。 41:4 ゲダルヤ暗殺の翌日、まだだれにも知られないうちに、 41:5 シケム、シロ、サマリアから来た八十人の一行が、ひげをそり、衣服を裂き、身を傷つけた姿で通りかかった。彼らは、主の神殿にささげる供え物と香を携えていた。 41:6 ネタンヤの子イシュマエルがミツパから出て彼らを迎えた。彼は泣きながら歩いて行き、彼らに会うと、「アヒカムの子ゲダルヤのもとへおいでください」と言った。 41:7 一行が町の中に入ると、ネタンヤの子イシュマエルは、家来たちと共に彼らを殺し、穴の中にほうり込んだ。 41:8 しかし、一行の中にいた十人の者は、「我々を殺さないでください。小麦、大麦、油、蜜など貴重なものを畑に隠していますから」とイシュマエルに哀願したので、この十人だけは殺さずにおいた。 41:9 イシュマエルが、ゲダルヤの名を使って殺したすべての人々の死骸を投げ込んだ穴は、アサ王がイスラエルの王バシャの攻撃に備えて掘ったものであった。それをネタンヤの子イシュマエルは死体で満たした。 41:10 イシュマエルは、王の娘たちをも含めて、ミツパにいた民の残留者すべて、すなわち、親衛隊の長ネブザルアダンがアヒカムの子ゲダルヤの監督のもとにおき、ミツパに残っていた民をすべて捕虜とした。ネタンヤの子イシュマエルは彼らを引き立てて、アンモン人のもとに逃れようと出発した。 41:11 カレアの子ヨハナンをはじめとする軍の長は皆、ネタンヤの子イシュマエルが行った悪事を聞き、 41:12 直ちに、すべての兵を率いてネタンヤの子イシュマエルと戦うために出発し、ギブオンの大池のほとりで彼に追いついた。 41:13 イシュマエルに捕らえられていた人々は皆、カレアの子ヨハナンと軍の長たちの姿を見て歓喜した。 41:14 イシュマエルがミツパから捕虜として連行した人々は、一斉に身を翻してカレアの子ヨハナンのもとに帰って行った。 41:15 ネタンヤの子イシュマエルは八人の家来と共に、ヨハナンの前から逃れて、アンモン人のもとに向かった。 41:16 アヒカムの子ゲダルヤの暗殺の後、カレアの子ヨハナンと、彼と共にいたすべての軍の長たちは、ネタンヤの子イシュマエルのもとから救い出した民の残りの者をすべて、すなわち、ギブオンから連れ戻した指揮者、兵士、女、子供、宦官らをミツパから連れて、 41:17 出発し、ベツレヘムに近いキムハムの宿場にとどまった。彼らはエジプトへ向かおうとしていた。 41:18 バビロンの王がその地の監督をゆだねたアヒカムの子ゲダルヤを、ネタンヤの子イシュマエルが殺したために、彼らはカルデア人の報復を恐れたのである。
41:1 Now it came to pass in the seventh month that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family and of the officers of the king, came with ten men to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, at Mizpah. And there they ate bread together in Mizpah. 41:2 Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men who were with him, arose and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, and killed him whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land. 41:3 Ishmael also struck down all the Jews who were with him, that is, with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who were found there, the men of war. 41:4 And it happened, on the second day after he had killed Gedaliah, when as yet no one knew it, 41:5 that certain men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, eighty men with their beards shaved and their clothes torn, having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the Lord. 41:6 Now Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping as he went along; and it happened as he met them that he said to them, "Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam!" 41:7 So it was, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them and cast them into the midst of a pit, he and the men who were with him. 41:8 But ten men were found among them who said to Ishmael, "Do not kill us, for we have treasures of wheat, barley, oil, and honey in the field." So he desisted and did not kill them among their brethren. 41:9 Now the pit into which Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had slain, because of Gedaliah, was the same one Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with the slain. 41:10 Then Ishmael carried away captive all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah, the king's daughters and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive and departed to go over to the Ammonites. 41:11 But when Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces that were with him heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done, 41:12 they took all the men and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah; and they found him by the great pool that is in Gibeon. 41:13 So it was, when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, that they were glad. 41:14 Then all the people whom Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned around and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah. 41:15 But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men and went to the Ammonites. 41:16 Then Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, took from Mizpah all the rest of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah after he had murdered Gedaliah the son of Ahikam-the mighty men of war and the women and the children and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon. 41:17 And they departed and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is near Bethlehem, as they went on their way to Egypt, 41:18 because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had murdered Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had made governor in the land.

2:1 そこで、わたしの子よ、あなたはキリスト・イエスにおける恵みによって強くなりなさい。 2:2 そして、多くの証人の面前でわたしから聞いたことを、ほかの人々にも教えることのできる忠実な人たちにゆだねなさい。 2:3 キリスト・イエスの立派な兵士として、わたしと共に苦しみを忍びなさい。 2:4 兵役に服している者は生計を立てるための仕事に煩わされず、自分を召集した者の気に入ろうとします。 2:5 また、競技に参加する者は、規則に従って競技をしないならば、栄冠を受けることができません。 2:6 労苦している農夫こそ、最初に収穫の分け前にあずかるべきです。 2:7 わたしの言うことをよく考えてみなさい。主は、あなたがすべてのことを理解できるようにしてくださるからです。
1:15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. 1:16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; 1:17 but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. 1:18 The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day-and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus.
2:1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2:4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 2:5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 2:6 The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops. 2:7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
