37:1 ヨヤキムの子コンヤに代わって、ヨシヤの子ゼデキヤが王位についた。バビロンの王ネブカドレツァルが、彼をユダの国の王としたのである。 37:2 王も家来も国の民も、主が預言者エレミヤによって告げられた主の言葉に聞き従わなかった。 37:3 ゼデキヤ王は、シェレムヤの子ユカルと祭司であるマアセヤの子ツェファンヤとを預言者エレミヤのもとに遣わして、「どうか、我々のために、我々の神、主に祈ってほしい」と頼んだ。 37:4 エレミヤはまだ投獄されておらず、人々の間で出入りしていた。 37:5 折しも、ファラオの軍隊がエジプトから進撃して来た。エルサレムを包囲していたカルデア軍はこの知らせを聞いて、エルサレムから撤退した。 37:6 このとき、主の言葉が預言者エレミヤに臨んだ。 37:7 「イスラエルの神なる主はこう言われる。わたしの言葉を求めて、お前たちを遣わしたユダの王にこう言うがよい。お前たちを救援しようと出動したファラオの軍隊は、自分の国エジプトへ帰って行く。 37:8 カルデア軍が再び来て、この都を攻撃し、占領し火を放つ。 37:9 主はこう言われる。カルデア軍は必ず我々のもとから立ち去ると言って、自分を欺いてはならない。カルデア軍は決して立ち去らない。 37:10 たとえ、お前たちが戦いを交えているカルデアの全軍を撃ち破り、負傷兵だけが残ったとしても、彼らはそれぞれの天幕から立ち上がって、この都に火を放つ。」 37:11 カルデア軍は、ファラオの軍隊が進撃して来たので、エルサレムから撤退した。 37:12 そのとき、エレミヤはエルサレムを出て、親族の間で郷里の所有地を相続するために、ベニヤミン族の地へ行こうとした。 37:13 彼がベニヤミン門にさしかかったとき、ハナンヤの孫で、シェレムヤの子であるイルイヤという守備隊長が、預言者エレミヤを捕らえて言った。「お前は、カルデア軍に投降しようとしている。」 37:14 そこで、エレミヤは言った。「それは違う。わたしはカルデア軍に投降したりはしない。」しかし、イルイヤは聞き入れず、エレミヤを捕らえ、役人たちのところへ連れて行った。 37:15 役人たちは激怒してエレミヤを打ちたたき、書記官ヨナタンの家に監禁した。そこが牢獄として使われていたからである。 37:16 エレミヤは丸天井のある地下牢に入れられ、長期間そこに留めて置かれた。 37:17 ゼデキヤ王は使者を送ってエレミヤを連れて来させ、宮廷でひそかに尋ねた。「主から何か言葉があったか。」エレミヤは答えた。「ありました。バビロンの王の手にあなたは渡されます。」 37:18 更に、エレミヤはゼデキヤ王に言った。「わたしを牢獄に監禁しておられますが、一体わたしは、どのような罪をあなたとあなたの臣下、あるいはこの民に対して犯したのですか。 37:19 『バビロンの王は、あなたたちも、この国をも攻撃することはない』と預言していたあの預言者たちは、一体どこへ行ってしまったのですか。 37:20 王よ、今どうか、聞いてください。どうか、わたしの願いを受け入れ、書記官ヨナタンの家に送り返さないでください。わたしがそこで殺されないように。」 37:21 ゼデキヤ王は、エレミヤを監視の庭に拘留しておくよう命じ、パン屋街から毎日パンを一つ届けさせた。これは都にパンがなくなるまで続いた。エレミヤは監視の庭に留めて置かれた。
37:1 Now King Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah. 37:2 But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land gave heed to the words of the Lord which He spoke by the prophet Jeremiah. 37:3 And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, "Pray now to the Lord our God for us." 37:4 Now Jeremiah was coming and going among the people, for they had not yet put him in prison. 37:5 Then Pharaoh's army came up from Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they departed from Jerusalem. 37:6 Then the word of the Lord came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 37:7 "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, 'Thus you shall say to the king of Judah, who sent you to Me to inquire of Me: "Behold, Pharaoh's army which has come up to help you will return to Egypt, to their own land. 37:8 "And the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city, and take it and burn it with fire." ' 37:9 "Thus says the Lord: 'Do not deceive yourselves, saying, "The Chaldeans will surely depart from us," for they will not depart. 37:10 'For though you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, they would rise up, every man in his tent, and burn the city with fire.' " 37:11 And it happened, when the army of the Chaldeans left the siege of Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army, 37:12 that Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin to claim his property there among the people. 37:13 And when he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "You are defecting to the Chaldeans!" 37:14 Then Jeremiah said, "False! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans." But he did not listen to him. So Irijah seized Jeremiah and brought him to the princes. 37:15 Therefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and they struck him and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe. For they had made that the prison. 37:16 When Jeremiah entered the dungeon and the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days, 37:17 then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. The king asked him secretly in his house, and said, "Is there any word from the Lord?" And Jeremiah said, "There is." Then he said, "You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon!" 37:18 Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, "What offense have I committed against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison? 37:19 "Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land'? 37:20 "Therefore please hear now, O my lord the king. Please, let my petition be accepted before you, and do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there." 37:21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah to the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread from the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
6:17 この世で富んでいる人々に命じなさい。高慢にならず、不確かな富に望みを置くのではなく、わたしたちにすべてのものを豊かに与えて楽しませてくださる神に望みを置くように。 6:18 善を行い、良い行いに富み、物惜しみをせず、喜んで分け与えるように。 6:19 真の命を得るために、未来に備えて自分のために堅固な基礎を築くようにと。 6:20 テモテ、あなたにゆだねられているものを守り、俗悪な無駄話と、不当にも知識と呼ばれている反対論とを避けなさい。 6:21 その知識を鼻にかけ、信仰の道を踏み外してしまった者もいます。恵みがあなたがたと共にあるように。
6:17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 6:18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 6:19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 6:20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge- 6:21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.
