40:1 慰めよ、わたしの民を慰めよと／あなたたちの神は言われる。 40:2 エルサレムの心に語りかけ／彼女に呼びかけよ／苦役の時は今や満ち、彼女の咎は償われた、と。罪のすべてに倍する報いを／主の御手から受けた、と。 40:3 呼びかける声がある。主のために、荒れ野に道を備え／わたしたちの神のために、荒れ地に広い道を通せ。 40:4 谷はすべて身を起こし、山と丘は身を低くせよ。険しい道は平らに、狭い道は広い谷となれ。 40:5 主の栄光がこうして現れるのを／肉なる者は共に見る。主の口がこう宣言される。 40:6 呼びかけよ、と声は言う。わたしは言う、何と呼びかけたらよいのか、と。肉なる者は皆、草に等しい。永らえても、すべては野の花のようなもの。 40:7 草は枯れ、花はしぼむ。主の風が吹きつけたのだ。この民は草に等しい。 40:8 草は枯れ、花はしぼむが／わたしたちの神の言葉はとこしえに立つ。 40:9 高い山に登れ／良い知らせをシオンに伝える者よ。力を振るって声をあげよ／良い知らせをエルサレムに伝える者よ。声をあげよ、恐れるな／ユダの町々に告げよ。見よ、あなたたちの神 40:10 見よ、主なる神。彼は力を帯びて来られ／御腕をもって統治される。見よ、主のかち得られたものは御もとに従い／主の働きの実りは御前を進む。 40:11 主は羊飼いとして群れを養い、御腕をもって集め／小羊をふところに抱き、その母を導いて行かれる。
40:12 手のひらにすくって海を量り／手の幅をもって天を測る者があろうか。地の塵を升で量り尽くし／山々を秤にかけ／丘を天秤にかける者があろうか。 40:13 主の霊を測りうる者があろうか。主の企てを知らされる者があろうか。 40:14 主に助言し、理解させ、裁きの道を教え／知識を与え、英知の道を知らせうる者があろうか。 40:15 見よ、国々は革袋からこぼれる一滴のしずく／天秤の上の塵と見なされる。島々は埃ほどの重さも持ちえない。 40:16 レバノンの森も薪に足りず／その獣もいけにえに値しない。 40:17 主の御前に、国々はすべて無に等しく／むなしくうつろなものと見なされる。 40:18 お前たちは、神を誰に似せ／どのような像に仕立てようというのか。 40:19 職人は偶像を鋳て造り／金箔を作ってかぶせ、銀の鎖を付ける。 40:20 献げ物にする桑の木、えり抜きの朽ちない木を／巧みな職人は捜し出し、像を造り、据え付ける。 40:21 お前たちは知ろうとせず聞こうとしないのか／初めから告げられてはいなかったのか／理解していなかったのか、地の基の置かれた様を。 40:22 主は地を覆う大空の上にある御座に着かれる。地に住む者は虫けらに等しい。主は天をベールのように広げ、天幕のように張り／その上に御座を置かれる。 40:23 主は諸侯を無に等しいものとし／地を治める者をうつろなものとされる。 40:24 彼らは植えられる間もなく、種蒔かれる間もなく／地に根を張る間もなく／風が吹きつけてこれを枯らす。嵐がわらのように巻き上げる。 40:25 お前たちはわたしを誰に似せ／誰に比べようとするのか、と聖なる神は言われる。 40:26 目を高く上げ、誰が天の万象を創造したかを見よ。それらを数えて、引き出された方／それぞれの名を呼ばれる方の／力の強さ、激しい勢いから逃れうるものはない。 40:27 ヤコブよ、なぜ言うのか／イスラエルよ、なぜ断言するのか／わたしの道は主に隠されている、と／わたしの裁きは神に忘れられた、と。 40:28 あなたは知らないのか、聞いたことはないのか。主は、とこしえにいます神／地の果てに及ぶすべてのものの造り主。倦むことなく、疲れることなく／その英知は究めがたい。 40:29 疲れた者に力を与え／勢いを失っている者に大きな力を与えられる。 40:30 若者も倦み、疲れ、勇士もつまずき倒れようが 40:31 主に望みをおく人は新たな力を得／鷲のように翼を張って上る。走っても弱ることなく、歩いても疲れない。
40:1 "Comfort, yes, comfort My people!"Says your God. 40:2 "Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her,That her warfare is ended,That her iniquity is pardoned;For she has received from the Lord's handDouble for all her sins." 40:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness:"Prepare the way of the Lord;Make straight in the desertA highway for our God. 40:4 Every valley shall be exaltedAnd every mountain and hill brought low;The crooked places shall be made straightAnd the rough places smooth; 40:5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,And all flesh shall see it together;For the mouth of the Lord has spoken." 40:6 The voice said, "Cry out!"And he said, "What shall I cry?""All flesh is grass,And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. 40:7 The grass withers, the flower fades,Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;Surely the people are grass. 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades,But the word of our God stands forever." 40:9 O Zion,You who bring good tidings,Get up into the high mountain;O Jerusalem,You who bring good tidings,Lift up your voice with strength,Lift it up, be not afraid;Say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" 40:10 Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand,And His arm shall rule for Him;Behold, His reward is with Him,And His work before Him. 40:11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd;He will gather the lambs with His arm,And carry them in His bosom,And gently lead those who are with young. 40:12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,Measured heaven with a spanAnd calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?Weighed the mountains in scalesAnd the hills in a balance? 40:13 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,Or as His counselor has taught Him? 40:14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him,And taught Him in the path of justice?Who taught Him knowledge,And showed Him the way of understanding? 40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,And are counted as the small dust on the scales;Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing. 40:16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn,Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering. 40:17 All nations before Him are as nothing,And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless. 40:18 To whom then will you liken God?Or what likeness will you compare to Him? 40:19 The workman molds an image,The goldsmith overspreads it with gold,And the silversmith casts silver chains. 40:20 Whoever is too impoverished for such a contributionChooses a tree that will not rot;He seeks for himself a skillful workmanTo prepare a carved image that will not totter. 40:21 Have you not known?Have you not heard?Has it not been told you from the beginning?Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 40:22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 40:23 He brings the princes to nothing;He makes the judges of the earth useless. 40:24 Scarcely shall they be planted,Scarcely shall they be sown,Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth,When He will also blow on them,And they will wither,And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble. 40:25 "To whom then will you liken Me,Or to whom shall I be equal?" says the Holy One. 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high,And see who has created these things,Who brings out their host by number;He calls them all by name,By the greatness of His mightAnd the strength of His power;Not one is missing. 40:27 Why do you say, O Jacob,And speak, O Israel:"My way is hidden from the Lord,And my just claim is passed over by my God"? 40:28 Have you not known?Have you not heard?The everlasting God, the Lord,The Creator of the ends of the earth,Neither faints nor is weary.His understanding is unsearchable. 40:29 He gives power to the weak,And to those who have no might He increases strength. 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,And the young men shall utterly fall, 40:31 But those who wait on the LordShall renew their strength;They shall mount up with wings like eagles,They shall run and not be weary,They shall walk and not faint.
4:8 ところで、あなたがたはかつて、神を知らずに、もともと神でない神々に奴隷として仕えていました。 4:9 しかし、今は神を知っている、いや、むしろ神から知られているのに、なぜ、あの無力で頼りにならない支配する諸霊の下に逆戻りし、もう一度改めて奴隷として仕えようとしているのですか。 4:10 あなたがたは、いろいろな日、月、時節、年などを守っています。 4:11 あなたがたのために苦労したのは、無駄になったのではなかったかと、あなたがたのことが心配です。 4:12 わたしもあなたがたのようになったのですから、あなたがたもわたしのようになってください。兄弟たち、お願いします。あなたがたは、わたしに何一つ不当な仕打ちをしませんでした。 4:13 知ってのとおり、この前わたしは、体が弱くなったことがきっかけで、あなたがたに福音を告げ知らせました。 4:14 そして、わたしの身には、あなたがたにとって試練ともなるようなことがあったのに、さげすんだり、忌み嫌ったりせず、かえって、わたしを神の使いであるかのように、また、キリスト・イエスででもあるかのように、受け入れてくれました。 4:15 あなたがたが味わっていた幸福は、いったいどこへ行ってしまったのか。あなたがたのために証言しますが、あなたがたは、できることなら、自分の目をえぐり出してもわたしに与えようとしたのです。 4:16 すると、わたしは、真理を語ったために、あなたがたの敵となったのですか。 4:17 あの者たちがあなたがたに対して熱心になるのは、善意からではありません。かえって、自分たちに対して熱心にならせようとして、あなたがたを引き離したいのです。 4:18 わたしがあなたがたのもとにいる場合だけに限らず、いつでも、善意から熱心に慕われるのは、よいことです。 4:19 わたしの子供たち、キリストがあなたがたの内に形づくられるまで、わたしは、もう一度あなたがたを産もうと苦しんでいます。 4:20 できることなら、わたしは今あなたがたのもとに居合わせ、語調を変えて話したい。あなたがたのことで途方に暮れているからです。
4:8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. 4:9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 4:10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. 4:11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain. 4:12 Brethren, I urge you to become like me, for I became like you. You have not injured me at all. 4:13 You know that because of physical infirmity I preached the gospel to you at the first. 4:14 And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. 4:15 What then was the blessing you enjoyed? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. 4:16 Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? 4:17 They zealously court you, but for no good; yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them. 4:18 But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you. 4:19 My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you, 4:20 I would like to be present with you now and to change my tone; for I have doubts about you.
