23:1 ティルスについての託宣。泣き叫べ、タルシシュの船よ。ティルスは破壊され、住む家もなくなった。キティムの地から帰るやいなや／彼らはそのことを知らされた。 23:2 嘆け、海辺の住人たち／シドンの貿易商たちよ。お前の使者たちは海を渡り 23:3 大いなる水を越えて行き／シホルの穀物、ナイルの収穫がお前の収入となり／お前は国々の行き交う場所であった。 23:4 うろたえよ、海の砦シドンよ。海がこう言っている。「わたしは産みの苦しみをしない。子を産み、若者を育て／おとめらを、はぐくむことはできない」と。 23:5 この知らせがエジプトに達したとき／人々はおののいた／ティルスについての知らせを聞いたときのように。 23:6 渡って行け、タルシシュに。泣き叫べ、海辺の住人たちよ。 23:7 これがお前たちの陽気だった海辺の町か。町の初めは、遠い昔にさかのぼり／足である船は、移住の地を求めて／遠くへ市民を運んだ。 23:8 ティルスに対してこのように定めた者は誰か。ティルスは王冠を戴き、その貿易商人たちは貴族。取り引きする者らは世界に重んじられていた。 23:9 それを定められたのは万軍の主である。ティルスの誇る美しさをことごとく汚し／世界に重んじられていた者をすべて／辱めることを。 23:10 娘タルシシュよ／ナイルのように、お前の国を越えて行け／もはや、遮るものはない。 23:11 主は御手を海に伸ばして国々を震わせ／カナンに命じて、その砦を破壊される。 23:12 主は言われた。「お前は、二度と陽気な町ではありえない。犯された娘である、おとめシドンよ／立て、キティムへ渡れ。しかし、そこでもお前は休みを得ない」と。 23:13 カルデアの地もそのようだ。それはもはや存在しない民。アッシリアは、彼らを荒野の獣に渡した。人々は見張りの塔を建て／館を建て連ねたが／すべては廃虚に帰している。 23:14 泣き叫べ、タルシシュの船よ／お前たちの砦は破壊されてしまった。 23:15 その日が来ると／ティルスは、一人の王の生涯に等しい七十年の間／忘れられているが／その七十年が終わると／ティルスは遊女の歌にうたわれているようになる。 23:16 「竪琴を取れ、町を巡れ／忘れられた遊女よ。巧みに奏でよ、多くの歌をうたえ／思い出されるために。」 23:17 七十年が終わると、主はティルスを顧みられる。そのとき、彼女は再び遊女の報酬を取り、地上にある世界のすべての国々と姦淫する。 23:18 しかし彼女の利益と報酬は、主の聖なるものとなり、積み上げられも、蓄えられもしない。主の御前に住む者たちの利益となり、彼らは飽きるほど食べ、華やかに装う。
23:1 The burden against Tyre.Wail, you ships of Tarshish!For it is laid waste,So that there is no house, no harbor;From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them. 23:2 Be still, you inhabitants of the coastland,You merchants of Sidon,Whom those who cross the sea have filled. 23:3 And on great waters the grain of Shihor,The harvest of the River, is her revenue;And she is a marketplace for the nations. 23:4 Be ashamed, O Sidon;For the sea has spoken,The strength of the sea, saying,"I do not labor, nor bring forth children;Neither do I rear young men,Nor bring up virgins." 23:5 When the report reaches Egypt,They also will be in agony at the report of Tyre. 23:6 Cross over to Tarshish;Wail, you inhabitants of the coastland! 23:7 Is this your joyous city,Whose antiquity is from ancient days,Whose feet carried her far off to dwell? 23:8 Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city,Whose merchants are princes,Whose traders are the honorable of the earth? 23:9 The Lord of hosts has purposed it,To bring to dishonor the pride of all glory,To bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. 23:10 Overflow through your land like the River,O daughter of Tarshish;There is no more strength. 23:11 He stretched out His hand over the sea,He shook the kingdoms;The Lord has given a commandment against CanaanTo destroy its strongholds. 23:12 And He said, "You will rejoice no more,O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon.Arise, cross over to Cyprus;There also you will have no rest." 23:13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans,This people which was not;Assyria founded it for wild beasts of the desert.They set up its towers,They raised up its palaces,And brought it to ruin. 23:14 Wail, you ships of Tarshish!For your strength is laid waste. 23:15 Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot: 23:16 "Take a harp, go about the city,You forgotten harlot;Make sweet melody, sing many songs,That you may be remembered." 23:17 And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the Lord will visit Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. 23:18 Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.

8:16 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus. 8:17 For he not only accepted the exhortation, but being more diligent, he went to you of his own accord. 8:18 And we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches, 8:19 and not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord Himself and to show your ready mind, 8:20 avoiding this: that anyone should blame us in this lavish gift which is administered by us- 8:21 providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. 8:22 And we have sent with them our brother whom we have often proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, because of the great confidence which we have in you. 8:23 If anyone inquires about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you. Or if our brethren are inquired about, they are messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ. 8:24 Therefore show to them, and before the churches the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.
