4:1 こういうわけですから、人はわたしたちをキリストに仕える者、神の秘められた計画をゆだねられた管理者と考えるべきです。 4:2 この場合、管理者に要求されるのは忠実であることです。 4:3 わたしにとっては、あなたがたから裁かれようと、人間の法廷で裁かれようと、少しも問題ではありません。わたしは、自分で自分を裁くことすらしません。 4:4 自分には何もやましいところはないが、それでわたしが義とされているわけではありません。わたしを裁くのは主なのです。 4:5 ですから、主が来られるまでは、先走って何も裁いてはいけません。主は闇の中に隠されている秘密を明るみに出し、人の心の企てをも明らかにされます。そのとき、おのおのは神からおほめにあずかります。 4:6 兄弟たち、あなたがたのためを思い、わたし自身とアポロとに当てはめて、このように述べてきました。それは、あなたがたがわたしたちの例から、「書かれているもの以上に出ない」ことを学ぶためであり、だれも、一人を持ち上げてほかの一人をないがしろにし、高ぶることがないようにするためです。 4:7 あなたをほかの者たちよりも、優れた者としたのは、だれです。いったいあなたの持っているもので、いただかなかったものがあるでしょうか。もしいただいたのなら、なぜいただかなかったような顔をして高ぶるのですか。 4:8 あなたがたは既に満足し、既に大金持ちになっており、わたしたちを抜きにして、勝手に王様になっています。いや実際、王様になっていてくれたらと思います。そうしたら、わたしたちも、あなたがたと一緒に王様になれたはずですから。 4:9 考えてみると、神はわたしたち使徒を、まるで死刑囚のように最後に引き出される者となさいました。わたしたちは世界中に、天使にも人にも、見せ物となったからです。 4:10 わたしたちはキリストのために愚か者となっているが、あなたがたはキリストを信じて賢い者となっています。わたしたちは弱いが、あなたがたは強い。あなたがたは尊敬されているが、わたしたちは侮辱されています。 4:11 今の今までわたしたちは、飢え、渇き、着る物がなく、虐待され、身を寄せる所もなく、 4:12 苦労して自分の手で稼いでいます。侮辱されては祝福し、迫害されては耐え忍び、 4:13 ののしられては優しい言葉を返しています。今に至るまで、わたしたちは世の屑、すべてのものの滓とされています。
4:1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4:4 For I know nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God. 4:6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. 4:7 For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it? 4:8 You are already full! You are already rich! You have reigned as kings without us-and indeed I could wish you did reign, that we also might reign with you! 4:9 For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 4:10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! 4:11 To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. 4:12 And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; 4:13 being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.
