18:1 離反する者は自分の欲望のみ追求する者。その事は、どんなに巧みにやってもすぐ知れる。 18:2 愚か者は英知を喜ばず／自分の心をさらけ出すことを喜ぶ。 18:3 神に逆らうことには侮りが伴い／軽蔑と共に恥辱が来る。 18:4 人の口の言葉は深い水。知恵の源から大河のように流れ出る。 18:5 神に従う人を裁きの座で押しのけ／神に逆らう人をひいきするのは良くない。 18:6 愚か者の唇は争いをもたらし、口は殴打を招く。 18:7 愚か者の口は破滅を／唇は罠を自分の魂にもたらす。 18:8 陰口は食べ物のように呑み込まれ／腹の隅々に下って行く。 18:9 仕事に手抜きする者は／それを破壊する者の兄弟だ。 18:10 主の御名は力の塔。神に従う人はそこに走り寄り、高く上げられる。 18:11 財産は金持ちの砦、自分の彫像のそびえる城壁。 18:12 破滅に先立つのは心の驕り。名誉に先立つのは謙遜。 18:13 聞き従う前に口答えをする者／無知と恥は彼のため。 18:14 人の霊は病にも耐える力があるが／沈みこんだ霊を誰が支えることができよう。 18:15 聡明な心は知識を獲得する。知恵ある耳は知識を追求する。 18:16 贈り物をすれば人の前途は開け／えらい人の前に彼を導く。 18:17 訴えごとを最初に出す人は正しく見えるが／相手方が登場すれば問いただされるであろう。 18:18 くじはいさかいを鎮め／手ごわい者どうしも引き分ける。 18:19 一度背かれれば、兄弟は砦のように／いさかいをすれば、城のかんぬきのようになる。 18:20 人は口の結ぶ実によって腹を満たし／唇のもたらすものによって飽き足りる。 18:21 死も生も舌の力に支配される。舌を愛する者はその実りを食らう。 18:22 妻を得るものは恵みを得る。主に喜び迎えられる。 18:23 物乞いをする者は哀願し／金持ちは横柄に答える。 18:24 友の振りをする友もあり／兄弟よりも愛し、親密になる人もある。
18:1 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire;He rages against all wise judgment. 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding,But in expressing his own heart. 18:3 When the wicked comes, contempt comes also;And with dishonor comes reproach. 18:4 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters;The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook. 18:5 It is not good to show partiality to the wicked,Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment. 18:6 A fool's lips enter into contention,And his mouth calls for blows. 18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction,And his lips are the snare of his soul. 18:8 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,And they go down into the inmost body. 18:9 He who is slothful in his workIs a brother to him who is a great destroyer. 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower;The righteous run to it and are safe. 18:11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city,And like a high wall in his own esteem. 18:12 Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty,And before honor is humility. 18:13 He who answers a matter before he hears it,It is folly and shame to him. 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness,But who can bear a broken spirit? 18:15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. 18:16 A man's gift makes room for him,And brings him before great men. 18:17 The first one to plead his cause seems right,Until his neighbor comes and examines him. 18:18 Casting lots causes contentions to cease,And keeps the mighty apart. 18:19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city,And contentions are like the bars of a castle. 18:20 A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth,From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,And those who love it will eat its fruit. 18:22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing,And obtains favor from the Lord. 18:23 The poor man uses entreaties,But the rich answers roughly. 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly,But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
14:1 信仰の弱い人を受け入れなさい。その考えを批判してはなりません。 14:2 何を食べてもよいと信じている人もいますが、弱い人は野菜だけを食べているのです。 14:3 食べる人は、食べない人を軽蔑してはならないし、また、食べない人は、食べる人を裁いてはなりません。神はこのような人をも受け入れられたからです。 14:4 他人の召し使いを裁くとは、いったいあなたは何者ですか。召し使いが立つのも倒れるのも、その主人によるのです。しかし、召し使いは立ちます。主は、その人を立たせることがおできになるからです。 14:5 ある日を他の日よりも尊ぶ人もいれば、すべての日を同じように考える人もいます。それは、各自が自分の心の確信に基づいて決めるべきことです。 14:6 特定の日を重んじる人は主のために重んじる。食べる人は主のために食べる。神に感謝しているからです。また、食べない人も、主のために食べない。そして、神に感謝しているのです。 14:7 わたしたちの中には、だれ一人自分のために生きる人はなく、だれ一人自分のために死ぬ人もいません。 14:8 わたしたちは、生きるとすれば主のために生き、死ぬとすれば主のために死ぬのです。従って、生きるにしても、死ぬにしても、わたしたちは主のものです。 14:9 キリストが死に、そして生きたのは、死んだ人にも生きている人にも主となられるためです。 14:10 それなのに、なぜあなたは、自分の兄弟を裁くのですか。また、なぜ兄弟を侮るのですか。わたしたちは皆、神の裁きの座の前に立つのです。 14:11 こう書いてあります。「主は言われる。『わたしは生きている。すべてのひざはわたしの前にかがみ、／すべての舌が神をほめたたえる』と。」 14:12 それで、わたしたちは一人一人、自分のことについて神に申し述べることになるのです。
14:1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 14:2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 14:3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 14:4 Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. 14:5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 14:6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 14:7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 14:9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 14:11 For it is written:"As I live, says the Lord,Every knee shall bow to Me,And every tongue shall confess to God." 14:12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.
