39:1 お前は岩場の山羊が子を産む時を知っているか。雌鹿の産みの苦しみを見守ることができるか。 39:2 月が満ちるのを数え／産むべき時を知ることができるか。 39:3 雌鹿はうずくまって産み／子を送り出す。 39:4 その子らは強くなり、野で育ち／出ていくと、もう帰ってこない。 39:5 誰が野生のろばに自由を与え／野ろばを解き放ってやったのか。 39:6 その住みかとして荒れ地を与え／ねぐらとして不毛の地を与えたのはわたしだ。 39:7 彼らは町の雑踏を笑い／追い使う者の呼び声に従うことなく 39:8 餌を求めて山々を駆け巡り／緑の草はないかと探す。 39:9 野牛が喜んでお前の僕となり／お前の小屋で夜を過ごすことがあろうか。 39:10 お前は野牛に綱をつけて畝を行かせ／お前に従わせて谷間の畑を／掘り起こさせることができるか。 39:11 力が強いといって、頼りにし／仕事を任せることができるか。 39:12 野牛が穀物をもたらし／実りを集めてくれると期待するのか。 39:13 駝鳥は勢いよく羽ばたくが／こうのとりのような羽毛を持っているだろうか。 39:14 駝鳥は卵を地面に置き去りにし／砂の上で暖まるにまかせ 39:15 獣の足がこれを踏みつけ／野の獣が踏みにじることも忘れている。 39:16 その雛を／自分のものではないかのようにあしらい／自分の産んだものが無に帰しても／平然としている。 39:17 神が知恵を貸し与えず／分別を分け与えなかったからだ。 39:18 だが、誇って駆けるときには／馬と乗り手を笑うほどだ。 39:19 お前は馬に力を与え／その首をたてがみで装うことができるか。 39:20 馬をいなごのように跳ねさせることができるか。そのいななきには恐るべき威力があり 39:21 谷間で砂をけって喜び勇み／武器に怖じることなく進む。 39:22 恐れを笑い、ひるむことなく／剣に背を向けて逃げることもない。 39:23 その上に箙が音をたて／槍と投げ槍がきらめくとき 39:24 身を震わせ、興奮して地をかき／角笛の音に、じっとしてはいられない。 39:25 角笛の合図があればいななき／戦いも、隊長の怒号も、鬨の声も／遠くにいながら、かぎつけている。 39:26 鷹が翼を広げて南へ飛ぶのは／お前が分別を与えたからなのか。 39:27 鷲が舞い上がり、高い所に巣を作るのは／お前が命令したからなのか。 39:28 鷲は岩場に住み／牙のような岩や砦の上で夜を過ごす。 39:29 その上から餌を探して／はるかかなたまで目を光らせている。 39:30 その雛は血を飲むことを求め／死骸の傍らには必ずいる。
39:1 "Do you know the time when the wild mountain goats bear young?Or can you mark when the deer gives birth? 39:2 Can you number the months that they fulfill?Or do you know the time when they bear young? 39:3 They bow down,They bring forth their young,They deliver their offspring. 39:4 Their young ones are healthy,They grow strong with grain;They depart and do not return to them. 39:5 "Who set the wild donkey free?Who loosed the bonds of the onager, 39:6 Whose home I have made the wilderness,And the barren land his dwelling? 39:7 He scorns the tumult of the city;He does not heed the shouts of the driver. 39:8 The range of the mountains is his pasture,And he searches after every green thing. 39:9 "Will the wild ox be willing to serve you?Will he bed by your manger? 39:10 Can you bind the wild ox in the furrow with ropes?Or will he plow the valleys behind you? 39:11 Will you trust him because his strength is great?Or will you leave your labor to him? 39:12 Will you trust him to bring home your grain,And gather it to your threshing floor? 39:13 "The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork's? 39:14 For she leaves her eggs on the ground,And warms them in the dust; 39:15 She forgets that a foot may crush them,Or that a wild beast may break them. 39:16 She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers;Her labor is in vain, without concern, 39:17 Because God deprived her of wisdom,And did not endow her with understanding. 39:18 When she lifts herself on high,She scorns the horse and its rider. 39:19 "Have you given the horse strength?Have you clothed his neck with thunder? 39:20 Can you frighten him like a locust?His majestic snorting strikes terror. 39:21 He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;He gallops into the clash of arms. 39:22 He mocks at fear, and is not frightened;Nor does he turn back from the sword. 39:23 The quiver rattles against him,The glittering spear and javelin. 39:24 He devours the distance with fierceness and rage;Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded. 39:25 At the blast of the trumpet he says, 'Aha!'He smells the battle from afar,The thunder of captains and shouting. 39:26 "Does the hawk fly by your wisdom,And spread its wings toward the south? 39:27 Does the eagle mount up at your command,And make its nest on high? 39:28 On the rocks it dwells and resides,On the crag of the rock and the stronghold. 39:29 From there it spies out the prey;Its eyes observe from afar. 39:30 Its young ones suck up blood;And where the slain are, there it is."
4:1 では、肉によるわたしたちの先祖アブラハムは何を得たと言うべきでしょうか。 4:2 もし、彼が行いによって義とされたのであれば、誇ってもよいが、神の前ではそれはできません。 4:3 聖書には何と書いてありますか。「アブラハムは神を信じた。それが、彼の義と認められた」とあります。 4:4 ところで、働く者に対する報酬は恵みではなく、当然支払われるべきものと見なされています。 4:5 しかし、不信心な者を義とされる方を信じる人は、働きがなくても、その信仰が義と認められます。 4:6 同じようにダビデも、行いによらずに神から義と認められた人の幸いを、次のようにたたえています。 4:7 「不法が赦され、罪を覆い隠された人々は、／幸いである。 4:8 主から罪があると見なされない人は、／幸いである。」 4:9 では、この幸いは、割礼を受けた者だけに与えられるのですか。それとも、割礼のない者にも及びますか。わたしたちは言います。「アブラハムの信仰が義と認められた」のです。 4:10 どのようにしてそう認められたのでしょうか。割礼を受けてからですか。それとも、割礼を受ける前ですか。割礼を受けてからではなく、割礼を受ける前のことです。 4:11 アブラハムは、割礼を受ける前に信仰によって義とされた証しとして、割礼の印を受けたのです。こうして彼は、割礼のないままに信じるすべての人の父となり、彼らも義と認められました。 4:12 更にまた、彼は割礼を受けた者の父、すなわち、単に割礼を受けているだけでなく、わたしたちの父アブラハムが割礼以前に持っていた信仰の模範に従う人々の父ともなったのです。
4:1 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? 4:2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." 4:4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 4:6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: 4:7 "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,And whose sins are covered; 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin." 4:9 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. 4:10 How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised. 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised.
