35:1 主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ。 35:2 「人の子よ、顔をセイル山に向け、それに向かって預言し、 35:3 彼に語りなさい。主なる神はこう言われる。セイル山よ、わたしはお前に立ち向かう。わたしはお前に向かって手を伸ばし／お前を荒れ果てた廃虚とする。 35:4 わたしはお前の町々を荒れ地とする。お前が廃虚になったとき／お前はわたしが主であることを知るようになる。 35:5 お前は果てしない敵意を抱き、イスラエルの子らが災いに遭い、最後の刑罰を受けたとき、彼らを剣に渡したからである。 35:6 それゆえ、わたしは生きている、と主なる神は言われる。わたしはお前の血を流させ、血がお前につきまとう。血に飢えた憎しみのゆえに、血がお前につきまとう。 35:7 わたしはセイル山を荒れ果てた廃虚とし、行き来する者がないようにする。 35:8 わたしは山々を殺された者で満たす。お前の丘にも谷にも、あらゆる谷間にも、剣で殺された者が倒れる。 35:9 わたしはお前を永久に荒れ果てた地とする。お前の町々には住む者がなくなる。そのとき、お前たちは／わたしが主であることを知るようになる。 35:10 それはお前が、『この二つの国、二つの土地はわたしのものとなる。我々はそれを占領する』と言ったからである。しかしそこに、主がおられた。 35:11 それゆえ、わたしは生きている、と主なる神は言われる。お前が彼らを憎んで行った怒りとねたみに応じて、わたしもお前に行う。わたしがお前を裁くとき、わたしは彼らに知られるようになる。 35:12 そしてお前は、主であるわたしがお前のもろもろの嘲りを聞いたことを知るようになる。お前はイスラエルの山々について言った。『それは荒れ果てて、我々の餌食となった』と。 35:13 お前たちはわたしに向かって大口をたたき、わたしに向かって多くの言葉を重ねた。わたしはそれを聞いた。 35:14 主なる神はこう言われる。わたしはお前を荒れ地とする。全世界はそれを喜ぶ。 35:15 お前がイスラエルの家の嗣業の荒れ果てたのを喜んだように、わたしもお前に同じようにする。セイル山よ、エドムの全地よ、お前は荒れ地となる。そのとき、彼らはわたしが主であることを知るようになる。」
[ 35 ] 35:1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 35:2 "Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it, 35:3 "and say to it, 'Thus says the Lord God:"Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against you;I will stretch out My hand against you,And make you most desolate; 35:4 I shall lay your cities waste,And you shall be desolate.Then you shall know that I am the Lord. 35:5 "Because you have had an ancient hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, when their iniquity came to an end, 35:6 "therefore, as I live," says the Lord God, "I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; since you have not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue you. 35:7 "Thus I will make Mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it the one who leaves and the one who returns. 35:8 "And I will fill its mountains with the slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those who are slain by the sword shall fall. 35:9 "I will make you perpetually desolate, and your cities shall be uninhabited; then you shall know that I am the Lord. 35:10 "Because you have said, 'These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them,' although the Lord was there, 35:11 "therefore, as I live," says the Lord God, "I will do according to your anger and according to the envy which you showed in your hatred against them; and I will make Myself known among them when I judge you. 35:12 "Then you shall know that I am the Lord. I have heard all your blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, 'They are desolate; they are given to us to consume.' 35:13 "Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me and multiplied your words against Me; I have heard them." 35:14 'Thus says the Lord God: "The whole earth will rejoice when I make you desolate. 35:15 "As you rejoiced because the inheritance of the house of Israel was desolate, so I will do to you; you shall be desolate, O Mount Seir, as well as all of Edom-all of it! Then they shall know that I am the Lord." '
2:14 わたしの兄弟たち、自分は信仰を持っていると言う者がいても、行いが伴わなければ、何の役に立つでしょうか。そのような信仰が、彼を救うことができるでしょうか。 2:15 もし、兄弟あるいは姉妹が、着る物もなく、その日の食べ物にも事欠いているとき、 2:16 あなたがたのだれかが、彼らに、「安心して行きなさい。温まりなさい。満腹するまで食べなさい」と言うだけで、体に必要なものを何一つ与えないなら、何の役に立つでしょう。 2:17 信仰もこれと同じです。行いが伴わないなら、信仰はそれだけでは死んだものです。 2:18 しかし、「あなたには信仰があり、わたしには行いがある」と言う人がいるかもしれません。行いの伴わないあなたの信仰を見せなさい。そうすれば、わたしは行いによって、自分の信仰を見せましょう。 2:19 あなたは「神は唯一だ」と信じている。結構なことだ。悪霊どももそう信じて、おののいています。 2:20 ああ、愚かな者よ、行いの伴わない信仰が役に立たない、ということを知りたいのか。 2:21 神がわたしたちの父アブラハムを義とされたのは、息子のイサクを祭壇の上に献げるという行いによってではなかったですか。 2:22 アブラハムの信仰がその行いと共に働き、信仰が行いによって完成されたことが、これで分かるでしょう。 2:23 「アブラハムは神を信じた。それが彼の義と認められた」という聖書の言葉が実現し、彼は神の友と呼ばれたのです。 2:24 これであなたがたも分かるように、人は行いによって義とされるのであって、信仰だけによるのではありません。 2:25 同様に、娼婦ラハブも、あの使いの者たちを家に迎え入れ、別の道から送り出してやるという行いによって、義とされたではありませんか。 2:26 魂のない肉体が死んだものであるように、行いを伴わない信仰は死んだものです。
2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 2:15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 2:16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 2:17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 2:20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 2:22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 2:25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
