4:1 わたしネブカドネツァルは、健康に恵まれ、王宮で心安らかに過ごしていた。 4:2 一夜、わたしは夢を見た。眠りの中に恐ろしい光景が現れ、わたしは頭に浮かんだ幻に悩まされた。 4:3 わたしは命令を下してバビロンの知者を全員召集し、夢の解釈をさせようとした。 4:4 占い師、祈祷師、賢者、星占い師らが来たので、わたしは夢の話をしたが、だれひとり解釈ができなかった。 4:5 最後にダニエルが来た。これはわたしの神にちなんでベルテシャツァルという名を与えた者で、彼には聖なる神の霊が宿っていた。わたしは彼に夢の話をして、こう言った。 4:6 「占い師の長ベルテシャツァルよ、お前には聖なる神の霊が宿っていて、どんな秘密でも解き明かせると聞いている。わたしの見た夢はこうだ。解釈をしてほしい。 4:7 眠っていると、このような幻が頭に浮かんだのだ。大地の真ん中に、一本の木が生えていた。大きな木であった。 4:8 その木は成長してたくましくなり／天に届くほどの高さになり／地の果てからも見えるまでになった。 4:9 葉は美しく茂り、実は豊かに実って／すべてを養うに足るほどであった。その木陰に野の獣は宿り／その枝に空の鳥は巣を作り／生き物はみな、この木によって食べ物を得た。 4:10 更に、眠っていると、頭に浮かんだ幻の中で、聖なる見張りの天使が天から降って来るのが見えた。 4:11 天使は大声に呼ばわって、こう言った。『この木を切り倒し、枝を払い／葉を散らし、実を落とせ。その木陰から獣を、その枝から鳥を追い払え。 4:12 ただし、切り株と根は地中に残し／鉄と青銅の鎖をかけて、野の草の中に置け。天の露にぬれるにまかせ／獣と共に野の草を食らわせよ。 4:13 その心は変わって、人の心を失い／獣の心が与えられる。こうして、七つの時が過ぎるであろう。 4:14 この宣告は見張りの天使らの決定により／この命令は聖なる者らの決議によるものである。すなわち、人間の王国を支配するのは、いと高き神であり、この神は御旨のままにそれをだれにでも与え、また、最も卑しい人をその上に立てることもできるということを、人間に知らせるためである。』 4:15 これが、わたしネブカドネツァル王の見た夢だ。さて、ベルテシャツァル、その解釈を聞かせてほしい。この王国中の知者はだれひとり解き明かせなかったのだが、聖なる神の霊が宿っているというお前ならできるであろう。」 4:16 しかし、ベルテシャツァルと呼ばれるダニエルは驚いた様子で、しばらくの間思い悩んでいた。王は彼に、「ベルテシャツァル、この夢とその解釈を恐れずに言うがよい」と言った。彼は答えた。「王様、この夢があなたの敵に、その解釈があなたを憎む者にふりかかりますように。 4:17 御覧になったその木、すなわち、成長してたくましくなり、天に届くほどの高さになり、地の果てからも見え、 4:18 葉は美しく茂り、実は豊かに実ってすべてを養うに足り、その木陰に野の獣は宿り、その枝に空の鳥は巣を作る、 4:19 その木はあなた御自身です。あなたは成長してたくましくなり、あなたの威力は大きくなって天にも届くほどになり、あなたの支配は地の果てにまで及んでいます。 4:20 また、王様は聖なる見張りの天使が天から降って来るのを御覧になりました。天使はこう言いました。この木を切り倒して滅ぼせ。ただし、切り株と根を地中に残し、これに鉄と青銅の鎖をかけて野の草の中に置け。天の露にぬれるにまかせ、獣と共に野の草を食らわせ、七つの時を過ごさせよ、と。 4:21 さて、王様、それを解釈いたしましょう。これはいと高き神の命令で、わたしの主君、王様に起こることです。 4:22 あなたは人間の社会から追放されて野の獣と共に住み、牛のように草を食べ、天の露にぬれ、こうして七つの時を過ごすでしょう。そうして、あなたはついに、いと高き神こそが人間の王国を支配し、その御旨のままにそれをだれにでも与えられるのだということを悟るでしょう。 4:23 その木の切り株と根を残すように命じられているので、天こそまことの支配者であると悟れば、王国はあなたに返されます。 4:24 王様、どうぞわたしの忠告をお受けになり、罪を悔いて施しを行い、悪を改めて貧しい人に恵みをお与えになってください。そうすれば、引き続き繁栄されるでしょう。」 4:25 このことはすべて、ネブカドネツァル王の上に起こった。 4:26 十二か月が過ぎたころのことである。王はバビロンの王宮の屋上を散歩しながら、 4:27 こう言った。「なんとバビロンは偉大ではないか。これこそ、このわたしが都として建て、わたしの権力の偉大さ、わたしの威光の尊さを示すものだ。」 4:28 まだ言い終わらぬうちに、天から声が響いた。「ネブカドネツァル王よ、お前に告げる。王国はお前を離れた。 4:29 お前は人間の社会から追放されて、野の獣と共に住み、牛のように草を食らい、七つの時を過ごすのだ。そうしてお前はついに、いと高き神こそが人間の王国を支配する者で、神は御旨のままにそれをだれにでも与えるのだということを悟るであろう。」 4:30 この言葉は直ちにネブカドネツァルの身に起こった。彼は人間の社会から追放され、牛のように草を食らい、その体は天の露にぬれ、その毛は鷲の羽のように、つめは鳥のつめのように生え伸びた。 4:31 その時が過ぎて、わたしネブカドネツァルは目を上げて天を仰ぐと、理性が戻って来た。わたしはいと高き神をたたえ、永遠に生きるお方をほめたたえた。その支配は永遠に続き／その国は代々に及ぶ。 4:32 すべて地に住む者は無に等しい。天の軍勢をも地に住む者をも御旨のままにされる。その手を押さえて／何をするのかと言いうる者はだれもいない。 4:33 言い終わると、理性がわたしに戻った。栄光と輝きは再びわたしに与えられて、王国の威光となった。貴族や側近もわたしのもとに戻って来た。こうしてわたしは王国に復帰し、わたしの威光は増し加わった。 4:34 それゆえ、わたしネブカドネツァルは天の王をほめたたえ、あがめ、賛美する。その御業はまこと、その道は正しく、驕る者を倒される。
4:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 4:2 I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me. 4:3 How great are His signs,And how mighty His wonders!His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,And His dominion is from generation to generation. 4:4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace. 4:5 I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. 4:6 Therefore I issued a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. 4:7 Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in, and I told them the dream; but they did not make known to me its interpretation. 4:8 But at last Daniel came before me (his name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god; in him is the Spirit of the Holy God), and I told the dream before him, saying: 4:9 "Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God is in you, and no secret troubles you, explain to me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation. 4:10 "These were the visions of my head while on my bed:"I was looking, and behold,A tree in the midst of the earth,And its height was great. 4:11 The tree grew and became strong;Its height reached to the heavens,And it could be seen to the ends of all the earth. 4:12 Its leaves were lovely,Its fruit abundant,And in it was food for all.The beasts of the field found shade under it,The birds of the heavens dwelt in its branches,And all flesh was fed from it. 4:13 "I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed, and there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven. 4:14 He cried aloud and said thus:'Chop down the tree and cut off its branches,Strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit.Let the beasts get out from under it,And the birds from its branches. 4:15 Nevertheless leave the stump and roots in the earth,Bound with a band of iron and bronze,In the tender grass of the field.Let it be wet with the dew of heaven,And let him graze with the beastsOn the grass of the earth. 4:16 Let his heart be changed from that of a man,Let him be given the heart of a beast,And let seven times pass over him. 4:17 'This decision is by the decree of the watchers,And the sentence by the word of the holy ones,In order that the living may knowThat the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,Gives it to whomever He will,And sets over it the lowest of men.' 4:18 "This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its interpretation, since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, for the Spirit of the Holy God is in you." 4:19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. So the king spoke, and said, "Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation trouble you." Belteshazzar answered and said, "My lord, may the dream concern those who hate you, and its interpretation concern your enemies! 4:20 The tree that you saw, which grew and became strong, whose height reached to the heavens and which could be seen by all the earth, 4:21 whose leaves were lovely and its fruit abundant, in which was food for all, under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and in whose branches the birds of the heaven had their home- 4:22 it is you, O king, who have grown and become strong; for your greatness has grown and reaches to the heavens, and your dominion to the end of the earth. 4:23 And inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, 'Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze in the tender grass of the field; let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him graze with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him'; 4:24 this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king: 4:25 They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses. 4:26 And inasmuch as they gave the command to leave the stump and roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be assured to you, after you come to know that Heaven rules. 4:27 Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity." 4:28 All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. 4:29 At the end of the twelve months he was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. 4:30 The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?" 4:31 While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! 4:32 And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses." 4:33 That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. 4:34 And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever:For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,And His kingdom is from generation to generation. 4:35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;He does according to His will in the army of heavenAnd among the inhabitants of the earth.No one can restrain His handOr say to Him, "What have You done?" 4:36 At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and splendor returned to me. My counselors and nobles resorted to me, I was restored to my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added to me. 4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down.
4:7 万物の終わりが迫っています。だから、思慮深くふるまい、身を慎んで、よく祈りなさい。 4:8 何よりもまず、心を込めて愛し合いなさい。愛は多くの罪を覆うからです。 4:9 不平を言わずにもてなし合いなさい。 4:10 あなたがたはそれぞれ、賜物を授かっているのですから、神のさまざまな恵みの善い管理者として、その賜物を生かして互いに仕えなさい。 4:11 語る者は、神の言葉を語るにふさわしく語りなさい。奉仕をする人は、神がお与えになった力に応じて奉仕しなさい。それは、すべてのことにおいて、イエス・キリストを通して、神が栄光をお受けになるためです。栄光と力とが、世々限りなく神にありますように、アーメン。
4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." 4:9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 4:11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever.
