7:1 王とハマンは、王妃エステルの酒宴にやって来た。 7:2 この二日目の日も同様に、ぶどう酒を飲みながら王は言った。「王妃エステルよ、何か望みがあるならかなえてあげる。願いとあれば国の半分なりとも与えよう。」 7:3 「王よ、もしお心に適いますなら」と王妃エステルは答えた。「もし特別な御配慮をいただき、私の望みをかなえ、願いを聞いていただけますならば、私のために私の命と私の民族の命をお助けいただきとうございます。 7:4 私と私の民族は取り引きされ、滅ぼされ、殺され、絶滅させられそうになっているのでございます。私どもが、男も女も、奴隷として売られるだけなら、王を煩わすほどのことではございませんから、私は黙ってもおりましょう。」 7:5 クセルクセス王は王妃エステルに、「一体、誰がそのようなことをたくらんでいるのか、その者はどこにいるのか」と尋ねた。 7:6 エステルは答えた。「その恐ろしい敵とは、この悪者ハマンでございます。」ハマンは王と王妃の前で恐れおののいた。 7:7 王は怒って立ち上がり、酒宴をあとにして王宮の庭に出た。ハマンは王妃エステルに命乞いをしようとしてとどまった。王による不幸が決定的になった、と分かったからである。 7:8 ハマンがエステルのいる長いすに身を投げかけているところへ、王宮の庭から王が酒宴の間に戻って来た。王は言った。「わたしのいるこの宮殿で、王妃にまで乱暴しようとするのか。」この言葉が王の口から発せられるやいなや、人々はハマンの顔に覆いをかぶせた。 7:9 宦官の一人、ハルボナは王に言った。「ちょうど、柱があります。王のために貴重なことを告げてくれたあのモルデカイをつるそうとして、ハマンが立てたものです。五十アンマもの高さをもって、ハマンの家に立てられています。」王は、「ハマンをそれにつるせ」と命じた。 7:10 こうしてハマンは、自分がモルデカイのために立てた柱につるされ、王の怒りは治まった。
[ 7 ] 7:1 So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther. 7:2 And on the second day, at the banquet of wine, the king again said to Esther, "What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!" 7:3 Then Queen Esther answered and said, "If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request. 7:4 "For we have been sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated. Had we been sold as male and female slaves, I would have held my tongue, although the enemy could never compensate for the king's loss." 7:5 So King Ahasuerus answered and said to Queen Esther, "Who is he, and where is he, who would dare presume in his heart to do such a thing?" 7:6 And Esther said, "The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman!" So Haman was terrified before the king and queen. 7:7 Then the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden; but Haman stood before Queen Esther, pleading for his life, for he saw that evil was determined against him by the king. 7:8 When the king returned from the palace garden to the place of the banquet of wine, Haman had fallen across the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, "Will he also assault the queen while I am in the house?" As the word left the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face. 7:9 Now Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, said to the king, "Look! The gallows, fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai, who spoke good on the king's behalf, is standing at the house of Haman." Then the king said, "Hang him on it!" 7:10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath subsided.

13:4 聖霊によって送り出されたバルナバとサウロは、セレウキアに下り、そこからキプロス島に向け船出し、 13:5 サラミスに着くと、ユダヤ人の諸会堂で神の言葉を告げ知らせた。二人は、ヨハネを助手として連れていた。 13:6 島全体を巡ってパフォスまで行くと、ユダヤ人の魔術師で、バルイエスという一人の偽預言者に出会った。 13:7 この男は、地方総督セルギウス・パウルスという賢明な人物と交際していた。総督はバルナバとサウロを招いて、神の言葉を聞こうとした。 13:8 魔術師エリマ――彼の名前は魔術師という意味である――は二人に対抗して、地方総督をこの信仰から遠ざけようとした。 13:9 パウロとも呼ばれていたサウロは、聖霊に満たされ、魔術師をにらみつけて、 13:10 言った。「ああ、あらゆる偽りと欺きに満ちた者、悪魔の子、すべての正義の敵、お前は主のまっすぐな道をどうしてもゆがめようとするのか。 13:11 今こそ、主の御手はお前の上に下る。お前は目が見えなくなって、時が来るまで日の光を見ないだろう。」するとたちまち、魔術師は目がかすんできて、すっかり見えなくなり、歩き回りながら、だれか手を引いてくれる人を探した。 13:12 総督はこの出来事を見て、主の教えに非常に驚き、信仰に入った。
[ 13 ] 13:1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." 13:3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. 13:4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 13:5 And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant. 13:6 Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, 13:7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 13:8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 13:9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 13:10 and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? 13:11 "And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time." And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 13:12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
