3:1 その後、クセルクセス王はアガグ人ハメダタの子ハマンを引き立て、同僚の大臣のだれよりも高い地位につけた。 3:2 王宮の門にいる役人は皆、ハマンが来るとひざまずいて敬礼した。王がそのように命じていたからである。しかし、モルデカイはひざまずかず、敬礼しなかった。 3:3 王宮の門にいる役人たちはモルデカイに言った。「なぜあなたは王の命令に背くのか。」 3:4 来る日も来る日もこう言われたが、モルデカイは耳を貸さなかった。モルデカイが自分はユダヤ人だと言っていたので、彼らはそれを確かめるようにハマンに勧めた。 3:5 ハマンは、モルデカイが自分にひざまずいて敬礼しないのを見て、腹を立てていた。 3:6 モルデカイがどの民族に属するのかを知らされたハマンは、モルデカイ一人を討つだけでは不十分だと思い、クセルクセスの国中にいるモルデカイの民、ユダヤ人を皆、滅ぼそうとした。 3:7 クセルクセス王の治世の第十二年の第一の月、すなわちニサンの月に、ハマンは自分の前でプルと呼ばれるくじを投げさせた。次から次へと日が続き、次から次へと月が動く中で、第十二の月すなわちアダルの月がくじに当たった。 3:8 ハマンはクセルクセス王に言った。「お国のどの州にも、一つの独特な民族がおります。諸民族の間に分散して住み、彼らはどの民族のものとも異なる独自の法律を有し、王の法律には従いません。そのままにしておくわけにはまいりません。 3:9 もし御意にかないますなら、彼らの根絶を旨とする勅書を作りましょう。わたしは銀貨一万キカルを官吏たちに支払い、国庫に納めるようにいたします。」 3:10 王は指輪をはずし、ユダヤ人の迫害者、アガグ人ハメダタの子ハマンに渡して、 3:11 言った。「銀貨はお前に任せる。その民族はお前が思うようにしてよい。」 3:12 こうして第一の月の十三日に、王の書記官が召集され、総督、各州の長官、各民族の首長にあてて、ハマンの命ずるがままに勅書が書き記された。それは各州ごとにその州の文字で、各民族ごとにその民族の言語で、クセルクセス王の名によって書き記され、王の指輪で印を押してあった。 3:13 急使はこの勅書を全国に送り届け、第十二の月、すなわちアダルの月の十三日に、しかもその日のうちに、ユダヤ人は老若男女を問わず一人残らず滅ぼされ、殺され、絶滅させられ、その持ち物は没収されることとなった。 3:14 この勅書の写しは各州で国の定めとして全国民に公示され、人々はその日に備えた。 3:15 急使は王の命令を持って急いで出発し、要塞の町スサでもその定めが公布された。スサの都の混乱をよそに、王とハマンは酒を酌み交わしていた。
[ 3 ] 3:1 After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him. 3:2 And all the king's servants who were within the king's gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage. 3:3 Then the king's servants who were within the king's gate said to Mordecai, "Why do you transgress the king's command?" 3:4 Now it happened, when they spoke to him daily and he would not listen to them, that they told it to Haman, to see whether Mordecai's words would stand; for Mordecai had told them that he was a Jew. 3:5 When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath. 3:6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus-the people of Mordecai. 3:7 In the first month, which is the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman to determine the day and the month, until it fell on the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar. 3:8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people's, and they do not keep the king's laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain. 3:9 "If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king's treasuries." 3:10 So the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews. 3:11 And the king said to Haman, "The money and the people are given to you, to do with them as seems good to you." 3:12 Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and a decree was written according to all that Haman commanded-to the king's satraps, to the governors who were over each province, to the officials of all people, to every province according to its script, and to every people in their language. In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king's signet ring. 3:13 And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions. 3:14 A copy of the document was to be issued as law in every province, being published for all people, that they should be ready for that day. 3:15 The couriers went out, hastened by the king's command; and the decree was proclaimed in Shushan the citadel. So the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
11:1 さて、使徒たちとユダヤにいる兄弟たちは、異邦人も神の言葉を受け入れたことを耳にした。 11:2 ペトロがエルサレムに上って来たとき、割礼を受けている者たちは彼を非難して、 11:3 「あなたは割礼を受けていない者たちのところへ行き、一緒に食事をした」と言った。 11:4 そこで、ペトロは事の次第を順序正しく説明し始めた。 11:5 「わたしがヤッファの町にいて祈っていると、我を忘れたようになって幻を見ました。大きな布のような入れ物が、四隅でつるされて、天からわたしのところまで下りて来たのです。 11:6 その中をよく見ると、地上の獣、野獣、這うもの、空の鳥などが入っていました。 11:7 そして、『ペトロよ、身を起こし、屠って食べなさい』と言う声を聞きましたが、 11:8 わたしは言いました。『主よ、とんでもないことです。清くない物、汚れた物は口にしたことがありません。』 11:9 すると、『神が清めた物を、清くないなどと、あなたは言ってはならない』と、再び天から声が返って来ました。 11:10 こういうことが三度あって、また全部の物が天に引き上げられてしまいました。 11:11 そのとき、カイサリアからわたしのところに差し向けられた三人の人が、わたしたちのいた家に到着しました。 11:12 すると、“霊”がわたしに、『ためらわないで一緒に行きなさい』と言われました。ここにいる六人の兄弟も一緒に来て、わたしたちはその人の家に入ったのです。 11:13 彼は、自分の家に天使が立っているのを見たこと、また、その天使が、こう告げたことを話してくれました。『ヤッファに人を送って、ペトロと呼ばれるシモンを招きなさい。 11:14 あなたと家族の者すべてを救う言葉をあなたに話してくれる。』 11:15 わたしが話しだすと、聖霊が最初わたしたちの上に降ったように、彼らの上にも降ったのです。 11:16 そのとき、わたしは、『ヨハネは水で洗礼を授けたが、あなたがたは聖霊によって洗礼を受ける』と言っておられた主の言葉を思い出しました。 11:17 こうして、主イエス・キリストを信じるようになったわたしたちに与えてくださったのと同じ賜物を、神が彼らにもお与えになったのなら、わたしのような者が、神がそうなさるのをどうして妨げることができたでしょうか。」 11:18 この言葉を聞いて人々は静まり、「それでは、神は異邦人をも悔い改めさせ、命を与えてくださったのだ」と言って、神を賛美した。
[ 11 ] 11:1 Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. 11:2 And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, 11:3 saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!" 11:4 But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying: 11:5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me. 11:6 "When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 11:7 "And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.' 11:8 "But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.' 11:9 "But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.' 11:10 "Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11:11 "At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea. 11:12 "Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house. 11:13 "And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, 'Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter, 11:14 'who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.' 11:15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. 11:16 "Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 11:17 "If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?" 11:18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
